Whatcookie wrote some more crazy CPU optimisations for RPCS3! This optimises RSX fragment hashing/comparisons using AVX-512, making it 4x faster on a Zen 4 CPU and even faster on Zen 5! This leads to a measured ~1-3% overall FPS gain in Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction.

Finally installed RPCS3 on the Odin 3. Not bad performance at all for a 2 year old smartphone chip. (I have one pending arm optimization here that I need to upstream, brings this scene from 43->50FPS)

I know I've made some videos covering floating point rounding errors, but it's still surprising to see that 2% of my audience are rounding errors.

The video is out now! I cover how we made RPCS3 60% faster on ARM in this video. It's full of lots of low level goodness, so please watch the video and let me know what you think of it!

I'm hoping to get the video out by Tuesday. It's going to be pretty comprehensive, so it's going to be my longest video by a very large margin.
🚀PS3 emulation is now way FASTER on arm64! Whatcookie has developed a LOT of optimisations for CELL emulation on arm64 devices. Subscribe to youtube.com/@MrWhatcookie to see an upcoming in-depth technical breakdown and performance showcase when it releases!

Did you know that AMD OpenGL "radeonsi" driver on Linux is so fast that it outperforms Vulkan in RPCS3? We have done several render optimisations throughout the year to close the gap! From March to November (2025): GL (radeonsi): 342 FPS to 380 FPS VK (radv): 263 FPS to 345 FPS

Did you know that... in UE3 games, if you patch out the engine's Depth-of-Field effect, it often also disables some other post FX effects An example is the black and white filter in Drakengard 3's Kuroi Uta, which reveals the colours the level was originally designed with
