I have loved watching Simon Harmer bowl in this Test series. He’s bowled with high skill and craft. But he’s shown you can be an attacking off spin bowler with flight and guile and not just be used as a defensive option to jam an end.
If a batsman tries to influence an umpire’s decision following an appeal, they should be penalised five runs as a minimum. A batsman bats, an umpire umpires.
20-year-old Harry Hoekstra has played four games for Victoria. He’s taken five-wicket hauls in three of those four games. A useful first impression!
For @essendonfc fans that missed the chat I had with Kiddy Coleman @1116sen this morning, here it is…

Bomber fans…
I’ll be chatting to new recruit Keidean Coleman in ten minutes (10.05am) on @1116sen for his first chat as an @essendonfc player.
The best wicket keepers create unlikely chances with their quick thinking and anticipation. Steve Smith’s proving the same sort of attributes apply for slips fielding. Traditional slips or, particularly, at leg slip.
This has to be one of the most extraordinary cricket stories I can remember.
Nic Maddinson will open the batting for his country in about 10 minutes. Chemotherapy last year.
When you consider what he’s been through… nothing short of remarkable.
Yarn from last year

Victoria has two players making their debut in the #SheffieldShield opener with Liam Blackford and Harry Hoekstra getting their navy blue caps this morning. There was also a cameo from Victorian (and @GeelongCC) royalty.
Victoria is batting first at Junction Oval after SA won the toss in the #SheffieldShield final rematch. Both teams look very different to last year’s final with players in either South Africa or India. First ball at 10.30am local time on @kayosports and @cricketcomau
What an outstanding effort from Liam O’Keefe and his team to have the Flemington track race as well as it did today considering how much rain has fallen in Melbourne over the last few days.
Josh Dunkley is a warrior. He’s the bravest, most courageous and most selfless footballers I’ve seen play the game.
Junction Oval looks magnificent. @VicStateCricket @cricketvictoria
It happened a lot earlier than expected in the game, but the lights have been switched on for the first time in a domestic cricket match at Junction Oval.
The entree before tomorrow’s AFL Grand Final. NSW is batting first. Cricket under lights for the first time at Junction Oval. Maxwell, Boland and Short are all in the final team for Victoria. All the action on @kayosports.
