In December, the Trump administration terminated the lease held by a non profit to manage D.C.’s 3 public golf courses.
It also left the future of one of America’s most historic mini golf courses in doubt.

NEWS: @MayorBowser pitched bringing a 500,000-square-foot spa complex to the banks of the Anacostia River in Ward 8, offering @ThermeGroup a 15-acre plot of land for $1 a year in rent. But the plan may be dead, now that @Janeese4DC tells me she’s opposed. washingtonsun.com/metro/dc-s…

Wow. Mendo saying publicly that Pirro should re-try Trayon White’s bribery case.
Mendo on Councilmember Trayon White: "I just think it's inappropriate to accepting an envelope with $35,000 of cash in it," especially in connection.
He thinks Pirro should retry the case.
Mendo: "We need finality. We need either an acquittal or conviction."

Good and not-good economic news for D.C. today from the city's CFO.
Good: The September revenue estimate says the city will close out the 2026 fiscal year with $205 million more revenue than expected.
Not good: Revenue projections for next four years are down.

Mayor Bowser said she had no comment on the outcome of the Trayon White bribery case, which ended in a mistrial Monday. But, when asked what should happen next, does she believe council should move to expel White again, she said this: @DCNewsNow

U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro's statement to WAMU:
"We have video showing piles of cash being given to a D.C. councilmember as part of a $156,000 bribe. Rest assured that we will retry this case and every corruption case to verdict."

W5's @CMZParker5 just now on @trayonwhite's ongoing trial: "It is unfortunate, and I wish we were not in this place."
If convicted, "he instantly will be invalidated and will be unable to run for office again in the District."
It an acquittal or hung jury? "A bit more tricky."

Well, this seems pretty definitive: Prince George's County court records show Kamara divorced Danielle Simmons, the woman White's defense claims is his half-sister, two years ago.
That means in Aug. 2024, when White was arrested, the pair were indeed brother-in-laws.

NEW in the East Potomac golf course case: DOJ filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, citing SCOTUS’s recent ruling regarding Trump’s ballroom & a ruling that asserted the lawsuit’s claims are premature bc a course design isn’t finalized.

A lot of tree removal happening at East Potomac GC the last few days. Several folks sent us pictures, including a cherry tree that was removed near 14 green. We took a look ourselves and confirmed that this cherry was not on the list of dead & dying trees approved for removal.

A bittersweet story this week. When I saw the news of Dolly's passing, I just assumed she'd helped DC because of how incredible her reach was across music, philanthropy, and more. How amazing to learn that she helped foster love of reading among DC kids. 51st.news/dolly-parton-imagi…
