𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀? That question has very tangible consequences on the factory floor. Altered software, unauthorized updates, or compromised code can affect far more than cybersecurity: they can influence system behavior, reliability, compliance, and ultimately safety. At the International Robot Safety Conference 2026, Marcellus Buchheit, President and CEO of Wibu-Systems USA, will examine practical ways to protect software integrity through code signing, secure updates, and software protection. The goal: help manufacturers and integrators maintain confidence that the software controlling their robotic systems is authentic, authorized, and protected throughout its lifecycle. 📅 Thursday, November 5 🕜 1:30 PM–2:00 PM 📍 Track 1 buff.ly/czZgpCO @a3automate #IRSC2026 #RobotSafety #Robotics #SoftwareIntegrity #Cybersecurity #CodeMeter

Stronger partnerships. Resilient supply chains. Innovation built on trust. Our CEO and co-founder Oliver Winzenried is attending the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) in Seoul and shared these impressions from the opening ceremony. The addresses by Korean Prime Minister Han Seong-sook and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz highlighted the importance of faster cooperation, diversification, and reliable international networks. Germany and Korea’s new economic and high-tech partnership framework gives that cooperation further momentum. AI’s role in competitiveness was another central theme, alongside the security and safeguards needed to put innovation into practice. For Wibu-Systems, these priorities connect directly with our work, and we look forward to contributing to the strong industrial partnerships taking shape. Trustworthiness is foundational to all the digital technologies being developed, shared, and deployed. Thank you to AHK Korea and all the organizers for the months of preparation behind this gathering, and to everyone contributing to closer cooperation between Germany, Korea, and the wider Asia-Pacific region. #WibuSystems #CodeMeter #APK2026 #IndustrialInnovation #SoftwareProtection #Germany #Korea

At electronica 2026, the @SD_Association will display cards for industrial applications at booth C6.660, including Wibu-Systems’ SD and microSD CmCards. CmCard combines two functions in one compact form factor: 🔐 An Infineon security chip stores licenses and cryptographic data for CodeMeter software protection and licensing. 💾 Additional flash memory provides space for data storage. For manufacturers evaluating other industrial memory cards, 𝗖𝗺𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 offers a different integration route: selected cards from certified partners can bind and store CmActLicenses, CodeMeter’s software-based licenses, directly on the removable medium. These approaches give embedded and industrial product teams different ways to incorporate licensing into their device designs. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟬𝟬%. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄. Oliver Winzenried calls the answer 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆. The principle is straightforward: security mechanisms need to be designed so that they can evolve as threats, technology, and cryptography change. The implementation is anything but straightforward. Consider post-quantum cryptography. Replacing today's asymmetric cryptography is not simply a matter of exchanging one algorithm for another. Key sizes and computational requirements change dramatically. In an industrial machine containing potentially hundreds of individually licensed functions, that has profound architectural consequences. Then comes the second challenge: migration. Wibu-Systems customers already operate millions of license containers in the field. Moving that installed base toward post-quantum mechanisms therefore requires a transition path that preserves existing operations while introducing a new cryptographic foundation. In our latest conversation with Max Moser of VDMA, Oliver explains why 𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 are becoming essential characteristics of long-lived industrial technology. ▶ Watch the full interview. buff.ly/hBZYme9 @VDMAonline #PostQuantumCryptography #PQC #RenewableSecurity #CodeMeter #IndustrialCybersecurity #CryptographicAgility #VDMA

As the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business opened today in Seoul, our contribution to KORUM’s 2026 APK Special Edition explores what that question means for manufacturers in Europe, in Korea, and across the globe. Machines, vehicles, and medical devices can evolve through software long after delivery. Customers can activate new capabilities, expand capacity when demand rises, or upgrade equipment without replacing it. For manufacturers, this opens opportunities to build lasting customer relationships and sustainable digital revenue. Making these models work requires software licensing that connects usage rights with customer needs and protection that safeguards the know-how behind each function. CodeMeter helps manufacturers bring these elements together across products and markets. Thank you to KGCCI for including Wibu-Systems in this special edition and bringing together perspectives on industrial cooperation across Germany, Korea, and the wider Asia-Pacific region. 📖 Read our contribution and explore the full edition: buff.ly/03eM8vN #WibuSystems #CodeMeter #KORUM #KGCCI #APK2026 #SoftwareLicensing #SoftwareMonetization

Stefan Bamberg of Wibu-Systems discusses how licensing allows manufacturers to move beyond the traditional “one device, one price” model and align commercial value more closely with actual functionality and usage. A basic device can support different feature sets. Performance can be priced according to application metrics. Capabilities can be activated later. Virtual controllers can be instantiated dynamically rather than purchased as individual physical devices. And manufacturers can build recurring or after-sales revenue around software that continues creating value long after the original hardware purchase. But industrial reality also imposes limits. Cloud licensing may simplify provisioning and updates, yet many factories remain skeptical of anything that makes production dependent on a permanent Internet connection, and air-gapped environments remain common.
