NEW: Interrogation of the Omani pilot: the objective was to crash the plane into the terminal building at Ben Gurion Airport. The assault on the other pilot was timed deliberately. He waited until the aircraft was over Jordan, near Israel, before moving against him. From that point the plan was to fly a normal landing approach so nothing would appear unusual. Only in the last seconds, once interception was no longer possible, would he turn the aircraft into the terminal. The plot was thwarted by one decision. The wounded Indian pilot got the cockpit door open at all costs, and that is the only reason the attack did not succeed.
