Every action I take on Moodeng ETH is that one day, my bag gets bigger. - Our slogan is to “Do Only Good Everyday”. We do charities and donations, and we do them hoping that one day Vitalik or someone sees the good deeds and pumps our incentive — our bag. That’s the mixed motive. The deeds can still be real; the reason we keep showing them in his replies is not pure (like this one). - So it’s hard to argue that we are purely in it to Do Only Good Everyday. We’re not. We’re here to get Vitalik’s attention, as you can see in most of his posts our CTOs will ask for his reply. That’s a social bag sitting on top of the financial one. Naming that is the point of the article. Pretending the slogan makes us un-incentivized would be the galaxy-brain move. - One part that I do feel differently these days, which is purely subjective, is that when I build in this community it almost feels like a video game I hope will never end. Yes, my incentive is still to hope my bag gets really big one day, and if it does, I’ll most likely hope I can finish this game and move on to the next one. I’m guessing this is the part he means by incentives: not only price, but staying inside a game that still has a next level. - What I also think about is, if one day the MC does go to the moon, what happens to the charities? At that point, most of us who have been building for two years will have sold most of their bags, me included. Then what would our incentive be from there on out? - That’s the test of whether “Do Only Good Everyday” was a rule we keep without a pump, or a tactic that ends when the bag is gone. If the donations were only marketing spend to get seen, the pipeline dies when we sell. If it was a constraint — we donate because we said we would, even after the chart doesn’t need it — then the charities can outlast the game. I don’t want to galaxy-brain that in advance. I just don’t want us to find out we only ever had the first version. I used to have these types of conversations way back when I was in school with my classmates, friends, and with myself. Nowadays with each societal etch, material wealth (or lack therof), temptations, etc., it does become a lot harder to adhere to my rules than before. I guess that’s the human part. 🦛💎🖖
