TONIGHT learn about Harry Belafonte’s life while he lived Uptown and his activist legacy. In a world where celebrities stay quiet, it’s a nice reminder of people like Belafonte who used their platform for good.

Our sixth #UptownKidLit was a blast 🚀 Even with the heavy rain, we welcomed 500 people to @sugarhillmuseum, had 30 volunteers running around, hosted 21 authors and teaching artists, and gave away over 1,700 books! Not bad for a rained-out day in a new venue ❤️
Happy #ClimateWeek and the first week of fall! We’re continuing the busy book energy with FIVE standalone book events with authors, and two of them en español. Plus we have a new gallery going up at #RecirculationNYC and two offsite this weekend for @BridesMarch and @bkbookfest
We want to take a moment to thank our sponsors and community tables for making #UptownKidLit possible this year! We lost a major sponsor but were still able to pay all our teaching artists and performers.
Check out their pages and send them all love!
Beautiful night celebrating the legacy of the Mirabal Sisters in this new graphic novel adaptation ❤️ Thank you @writerjalvarez #KrystalQuiles and @Claud9_ for the great discussion of #InTheTimeOfTheButterflies
