What does dignity at work look like for the people caring for our children?
Yesterday, we brought childcare workers, collectives, Nairobi County, and CSOs together for a Town Hall Dialogue under the ACT Project.
We unpacked ILO Convention 189, which sets standards for decent work for domestic workers, and ILO Convention 190, which addresses violence and harassment at work, alongside Nairobiโs Childcare Facilities Regulations.
The conversation was about workersโ rights, safety, professional standards, and what it takes to build a childcare sector where providers can thrive.
But the most important part was having the people doing the work in the room.
Not just being spoken about. Being heard.

This week in Kisumu, @COVAW and @CDTD_ brought together childcare providers, employers, and government representatives to look at what decent work should mean for childcare workers, from fair pay and safe working conditions to protection from abuse and harassment.
The conversation is an important step towards changing workplace practices, strengthening protection for childcare workers, and building a sector where decent work is part of how care is delivered.
