From another friend: JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible. Rusk responded, "Does that include those who are buried here?" DeGaulle did not respond. You could have heard a pin drop. When in England, at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of 'empire building' by George Bush. He answered by saying, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those who did not return." You could have heard a pin drop. There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intend to do, bomb them?" A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships. How many does France have?" You could have heard a pin drop. A U.S. Navy admiral was attending a naval conference that included admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian, and French navies at a cocktail reception. He found himself standing with a large group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks when a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, "Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?" Without hesitating, the American admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies, and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German." You could have heard a pin drop. AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE... Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on. "You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically. Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. "Then you should know enough to have your passport ready." The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it." "Impossible. Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France!" The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to." You could have heard a pin drop. I am proud to be an American, and proud of this God given heritage!

Rosalee Rositer had just finished a 24-hour shift with the New Smyrna Beach Fire Department when she saw a car leave northbound Interstate 95 near Port Orange, Florida, crash into the trees, and catch fire. She was on her way to Daytona State College, where she works as a lead laboratory adjunct instructor in the paramedic program. She was off duty, driving alone, with no crew and no equipment. The elderly couple inside did not get out. The vehicle was already burning. Rositer stopped. Other motorists stopped as well, including a member of another fire battalion. Together they moved to the wreck. The couple was wedged in the car. The rescuers extracted the woman first, then the man from the driver’s seat, before the flames reached the cabin. They stayed with the pair and provided care until arriving emergency crews took over. The couple was taken to the hospital as trauma alerts. Officials later said the driver may have suffered a medical emergency that caused the crash; no other vehicles were involved. Rositer later said the moment she realized the occupants were still inside and the car was on fire, her training took over. She described going into autopilot. She has been a firefighter for roughly three and a half years and has longer experience as a paramedic; the response drew on both. She graduated from Daytona State’s Emergency Medical Services program in 2017 and is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing while she continues teaching. The shift had already ended. The structured response of an on-duty call was not available. What remained was the decision, made while driving to another job, to stop for two people who were still in a burning car. She and the others who stopped got them out and stayed until more help arrived. That was the entire event: a finished shift, an ordinary drive, and the choice to treat the emergency in front of her as still belonging to her. 🌹

Mike Gallagher, the 8th most recognized talk radio personality, in the U.S.A., is heard by over 2.25 million listeners weekly. Hood killer as an Islamic terrorist. * It is you who has refused to speak-out concerning the horrific executions of women throughout the Muslim culture, but yet, have submitted Arizona to the UN for investigation of hypothetical human-rights abuses. * It was you who when queried in India refused to acknowledge the true extent of radical global Jihadists, and instead profusely praised Islam in a country that is 82% Hindu and the victim of numerous Islamic terrorists assaults. * It was you who funneled $900 Million in U.S. taxpayer dollars to Hamas. * It was you who ordered the United States Postal Service to honor the MUSLIM holiday with a new commemorative stamp. * It was you who directed our UK Embassy to conduct outreach to help "empower" the British Muslim community. * It was you who funded mandatory Arabic language and culture studies in Grammar schools across our country. * It is you who follows the Muslim custom of not wearing any form of jewelry during Ramadan. * It is you who departs for Hawaii over the Christmas season so as to avoid past criticism for NOT participating in seasonal White House religious events. * It was you who was uncharacteristically quick to join the chorus of the Muslim Brotherhood to depose Egypt's Hosni Mubarak, formerly America's strongest ally in North Africa; but, remain muted in your non-response to the Brotherhood led slaughter of Egyptian Christians. * It was you who appointed your chief adviser, Valerie Jarrett, an Iranian, who is a member of the Muslim Sisterhood, an off-shoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. It was you the whole time who ushered in this mess were in

On a mild March evening in 1974, a 23-year-old Princess Anne was minutes from Buckingham Palace when a white Ford Escort cut across The Mall and forced her car to a halt. Inside with her were her husband of four months, Captain Mark Phillips, her lady-in-waiting, her chauffeur, and a single protection officer, Inspector James Beaton. What followed was one of the most extraordinary moments in modern royal history—not because of panic, but because of refusal. Ian Ball, a 26-year-old who had planned the abduction for years, stepped out armed with two handguns. In his car were handcuffs, sedatives, and a typed ransom note demanding millions from the Queen. He had come for the Queen’s daughter. Beaton got out to confront him and was shot almost immediately. His own pistol jammed. Wounded—later accounts indicate he was hit multiple times—he kept placing himself between the gunman and the princess. The chauffeur was shot. A journalist who stopped to help was shot. A young police constable who arrived and managed to radio for backup was shot. Four men lay injured on the pavement. Ball opened the rear door, aimed at Anne, and ordered her out. She looked at him and answered with three words that have become legend: “Not bloody likely.” She did not scream or plead. As Ball grabbed her arm and her husband held her from the other side—tearing her dress in the struggle—she stayed composed and began speaking to him calmly and directly, as if handling a difficult but solvable problem rather than facing an armed abductor. Every second she kept him talking was a second for help to close in. Help arrived in the form of Ronnie Russell, a former heavyweight boxer driving past. He walked up behind a man who had already shot four people and punched him in the head, giving Anne the opening to break free. Ball fled into St. James’s Park; Detective Constable Peter Edmonds chased him down and arrested him. All four wounded men survived. Inspector Beaton later received the George Cross. Russell and the constable who radioed for help received the George Medal. Royal protection was overhauled; the era of a lone bodyguard ended. The night is remembered for layered courage: a bodyguard who kept moving after being shot, strangers who ran toward gunfire, a boxer who threw the decisive punch, and at the center a young woman who simply refused to be taken. Bravery is not always loud. Sometimes it is a steady voice and a clear decision that you will not go quietly—three words, no weapon, and no certainty of the outcome. ❤️

In 2002, while the Osbournes were in the middle of their reality-show whirlwind, Sharon Osbourne learned she had colon cancer that had already reached her lymph nodes. Chemotherapy followed, and it was brutal. At one point she simply stopped. For a week she stayed in bed in a darkened room, dehydrated and losing her hair, refusing to go back for more treatment. Nothing her family said could pull her out of it. Ozzy, frantic, remembered the movie Patch Adams, in which Robin Williams played a doctor who used humor with seriously ill patients. On a hunch he reached out through his agent and asked whether Williams would come by the house. Williams, who had never met Sharon, said yes immediately and showed up. He climbed into bed beside her, fully dressed, and spent roughly two hours telling jokes and running bits from his films. Downstairs the kids sat on the stairs and listened as the house went from quiet worry to the sound of their mother laughing hard with a complete stranger. The next morning Sharon got up and returned to chemotherapy. She completed the course and recovered, even though doctors had given her roughly a one-in-three chance. Years later Ozzy still called himself “forever in debt” to Williams for that afternoon. Sharon later described the visit as one of the kindest things anyone had ever done for her. Both men are gone now—Williams in 2014, Ozzy in 2025—which makes the small, private act feel even larger. It remains a quiet reminder that, on the worst days, the right person showing up with nothing more than time and laughter can change the direction of a fight. 🌹

He was doing a traffic stop. That was the job. Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden Phillips pulled a car over on northbound I-65 in Warren County around 2 p.m. Monday. Police say someone in that car shot him and drove away. A motorist passing the 38-mile marker called it in. Phillips was a three-year trooper out of Post 3 in Bowling Green. Glasgow raised him. He left a wife and three young sons. Officials say he would have turned 29 today. The car was a bluish-gray Honda Civic with an Alabama temp tag. A Blue Alert went statewide. Tips came in from half of Kentucky. About four hours later, Louisville police used a grappler on Dixie Highway and took a man out of the wreck. His name is Emonnie Branch, 51, of Portland, Tennessee. He is charged with murder of a first responder. In this state that charge can mean death or life without parole. A judge denied bail. He sat in Warren County court yesterday in orange, in a wheelchair, with deputies around him. Prosecutors say he gave a false name and has a record. He was already on probation in Tennessee. None of that has been tried in this case yet. He is accused. He has not been convicted. KSP’s commissioner said he would say the suspect’s name once. The U.S. attorney called it a routine stop that ended in a murder. Phillips is buried in the record as a man who died on the shoulder of the road doing the ordinary work. That is what Monday was.
