In simple words, always do whatever it takes to stay in motion.
The more you lock in, the more you have to lock in to maintain all you gained by locking in.

Not a career advice. But life advice. Optimise for self respect. Do the right thing. Get comfortable making others uncomfortable if you are trying to do the right thing. Don't be an asshole. Be ruthless. Call out bullshit.
Be the reckless hustler. Respect no rules. Keep saying f-you to bureaucracies. Be unmanageable. You'll find your havens. :)

What does it take to become a great financial modeler? Is it Excel mastery? Knowing hundreds of formulas? Or building a model with impressive dashboards? Those things help, but they are not what separate a good financial modeller from a great one. Let’s talk about the skills that matter. >>>

As much as I hate to admit it… my career has in fact benefitted from the fact that I come into the office a lot and am generally friendly and likable

Financial mistakes made early are often the most expensive lessons, but time remains the ultimate advantage for a young person.

I grew up around people who said there were no jobs. They wanted oil and gas money with no oil and gas experience. They were looking for connections. They never wanted to start small with the low paying job and build their way up. I thank God I didn't carry that mentality. The jobs were there. The patience wasn't.

I remember being fresh out of school, at my first job, overthinking my emails, trying so hard not to sound rude, worrying about how people would perceive everything I said. None of that matters in the grand scheme of things Now, I’ve learnt that what matters in corporate is knowing your work, communicating clearly, taking ownership, delivering results, and having the confidence to stand by your ideas. Confidence comes with competence, so get good.

Work late if you need to. Hell yeah work on weekends too But do it for yourself first (not the company) to compound skills faster. When I joined mPharma as Senior PM, I set a target to learn at 3x the rate of a regular person After 18 months, I moved and multiplied my income

Father is the MD of a top company in an incredibly complex industry. Mother is a Harvard-trained lawyer who transitioned into investment banking. Both parents have had insane levels of exposure throughout their careers. How exactly do you expect them to give birth to an olodo? 😂

We hv smarter Nepo babies than their "dull" counterparts. The problem is that the smart ones are about their business we don't get to hear about them. But the supposed "dull" and privileged ones are the loud ones we see on SM so pple just paint all Nepos with the same brush.
I always wonder where the assumption that only Lapo babies are smart and Nepo babies are automatically dull comes from. The other one I see is, when you say someone makes a first class, someone comes to tell you the person is automatically not "street smart" - whatever that means. Some people will beat you in "book", and still beat you in that thing you call "street".

Life is quite interesting. Poor people's children think rich people's children have it easy and don’t have to be book smart at all. Whereas in reality, rich people’s children tend to want to create a path for themselves and not have to always hide under their father's shadow.

People at the Lowest level make money through Labour, People at the Middle level make money through their Intellect People at the highest level generate wealth through Resources and Power. When speaking to your boss, focus on work, - with subordinates talk about the future, - with the poor, discuss benefits, and - with the wealthy, speak of value. It's not just about working hard, but working smart by delivering value that others are willing to invest in. Lastly, Wealth comes from Skills not manual labour and Strength comes from Wisdom not physical force. Don Corleone

There’s this notion a lot of people have that Nepo babies have bad grades 1. Many of them are groomed from schools they go to which optimize them getting into top 20 global schools 2. They already have more experience through internships On average their CV would rank top 5% of applicants regardless
If Dangote asked big4 to give his grandson internship role, of course they can. For staff, you need to follow the hiring process. It is easier if the person is an Experienced Hire (EH) but for GT? No way out unless you pass the test, interviews and the likes. Easy pathway to big4 can be - Internship, then after some years conversion to full staff. And pls, no one in big4 can email to hire a nepo pikin. They already have access to Alhaji, they do work for him. That rushing is just an outsider illusion. These big4 Partners are well-connected more than some people though.

kids from wealthy families often lack originality in thought but they're never devoid of great communication skills, constantly building networks (via small talk) — elaborate parties, church, sports — all done to meet at many people as possible, to find the ones they need.
