Another day, another hot inflation report. Business inflation surged in September to 6.3% (!). The expectation was 5.4%. Every category of business inflation was hot, even after stripping away energy costs. It's inevitable that companies will pass some of these costs along to consumers. It's yet another reason this fight against inflation is likely to be longer than anyone wants. Business (wholesale) inflation: 6.3% Consumer Inflation: 3.7%

Set aside the collapse in AI shitcos for a moment and take a look at the Treasury market, which is providing the clearest warning signal of them all Today's hot inflation report managed to send yields higher for all of 30 minutes, only to be met with relentless downward pressure that has continued overnight, wiping off 20 basis points of yield in less than 24 hours This is bear market price action

This is a rough September inflation report. -Biggest monthly jump since May -Higher than expected inflation AND core inflation -Core Inflation for the past 3 months is running at well over a 3% annualized pace...that's problematic -Inflation (3.7%) totally wiping out wage gains (3%) Yes, high gas and diesel prices are the major driver, but also big jumps in airfares, used car prices, recreation, medical and apparel. The energy shock is spreading.

$CTVA At the time of the spin-off, $vylr took on $5.7 billion in debt, while CTVA’s debt burden was significantly reduced. Even as a standalone company, CTVA generates approximately $7.8 billion in annual revenue and $1.4 billion in EBITDA, with solid growth. PT$20

Your brain deletes most of your ordinary days. It keeps almost every minute of a night alone in a foreign city. What's happening there is actually one of the more beautiful things about how your nervous system works. Your brain is a prediction machine. When it can predict everything, like your commute, your kitchen, your same six streets, it stops recording. That's why whole months at home just vanish. But put yourself somewhere it can't predict anything and the system flips. Every sign, every smell, every crosswalk registers as new information. Dopamine tags all of it as worth keeping. This is why one week abroad feels longer in memory than a month at home. Your brain literally kept more of it. The second thing happening is quieter. At home, some part of you is always tracking how you're being perceived. Your boss, your friends, the people who knew you at 22. In a city where nobody knows your name, that entire system goes offline. And when it goes offline, the bandwidth doesn't disappear. It gets redirected inward. That's the "realizing how far you've come" part. Your brain is finally recording again, the self-monitoring is off, and you're far enough away from your life to see the whole shape of it at once. You spend years too close to your own life to see it. Then one night you're crossing a street on the other side of the world, and you finally have enough distance to look.
Walking alone in a foreign city at night, realizing how far you've come.
