A short thread about @vcaresidency ahead of our celebrations in a few hours. The program started as an experiment 2 years ago after we realized there was a need and want from artists and creators to have a place and space where they could learn about the blockchain and art ecosystem in an environment that was not strictly attached to the market. We thought ok, why not start an online residency which is accessible, inclusive and global. We set our mission and goal to be: democratising access to knowledge because knowledge is power and we firmly believe education should be accessible and free for all. Our first cohort started in July of 2021, yes that long ago! Right now, we are about to conclude our six cohort which brings us to 150 resident artists across the two years coming from quite literally everywhere around the world. The program is free, the classes are accessible for anyone via our YouTube channel, the residency is online and fosters and environment of the true meaning of “community”: one where money and transactions are not involved. We are grateful to @TezosFoundation for helping us bring this vision to life from the very beggining. To our mentors who facilitate the classes and are allowing our residents to learn and exchange with them. To our artists who make the program rich and exciting and are the core of why we do it. To our partners and collectors who support us in different ways. Today we celebrate two years of what is the first natively Web3 online residency for art & culture on the blockchain. To many more years to come, we hope 🥰
