Mr. Owiny-Dollo, the Chief (in)Justice;
I have taken note of your response to my assertion that the judiciary you lead is complicit in the political persecution and eventual death of Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya. Like I said at his burial, the judiciary and everyone else who conspired to keep Hon. Ssegirinya in jail, even when he was clearly dying, all have his blood on their hands!
But I am curious: why have you found my comments deserving of a response but you continue to maintain deafening silence about the ongoing public uproar against the trial of civilians in military tribunals that has raged on for years now? Why have you not dedicated similar energy to the appeal against this injustice that has spent four years gathering dust on your desk at the Supreme Court? The injustice that has seen many Ugandans spend years or months in detention without trial?
Isn't it the same judiciary that remanded Kakwenza to prison instead of sending him to the ICU for emergency treatment when he appeared in court with festering wounds following his abduction and torture for criticizing the NRM regime? That judiciary denied the ill Hon. Ssegirinya bail for two whole years, but released healthy NRM legislators and ministers within just a few days of their arrest for stealing relief items from vulnerable citizens in Karamoja who were dying of poverty. That same judiciary sentenced Edward Awebwa to six years in jail for criticizing dictator Museveni on TikTok, but let off the hook senior police officers who arrested, detained, tortured and left Hon. Zaake for dead! The list is long.
You, Mr. Owiny-Dollo, abused your position and influence in the judiciary to deny the people of Uganda justice in the petition we filed at the Supreme Court challenging dictator Museveni’s rigging of the 2021 election. You did not stop there but went ahead to hound and persecute the only Judge in that Court who dared to question your illegal orders until she fled the country to save her life!
You boast that the judiciary you lead “saved me” when it granted me bail, and we resumed our presidential campaigns, but that can not be further from reality. The reality is that the massive pressure that Ugandans across the country put on the regime after our arrest left it with no choice but to reluctantly let the courts to free us just like the case was in 2018.
The other reality is that under your leadership, the judiciary has become either numb, unwilling, or incapable of fulfilling its constitutional obligation to dispense justice without fear or favour in cases where dictator Museveni and his regime declare or are thought to be interested in particular outcomes.
The reason your judiciary denied Hon. Ssegirinya bail is that dictator Museveni, contrary to the law, had expressly forbidden it. In that moment, under your leadership, the judiciary could not muster any courage, conviction or foresight to do what was right: give Hon. Ssegirinya bail before it was too late! It therefore does not take rocket science for citizens to see that any judicial officer handling such “sensitive” files like Ssegirinya’s ultimately has to consider the implication that ruling against the regime will have on their future and fortunes in that judiciary.
Ugandans are tired of a judiciary that works like a dead clock: only correct twice a day. They demand for a judiciary that is consistent and impartial in its dispensation of justice and interpretation of the law no matter what suspect appears before it and what they are accused of! That is not much to ask.
Going forward, Ugandans hope you'll gather some courage to put an end to the trial of civilians in military courts! If you're too busy, you could write this one paragraph: "We have read and agree with the numerous decisions of the Constitutional Court barring the trial of civilians in military courts, and have nothing useful to add." That one paragraph can restore hope to millions and their shuttered trust in the judiciary.

We’ve walked through rose gardens and through hellfire, laughed until our stomachs hurt and cried until our eyes were red.
Through it all and yet still together and still choosing each other. Sometimes I wonder what I ever did to deserve a blessing like you.
One lifetime could never be enough for me to love you or to reward you for all that you have been to me. So I pray that God’s blessings follow you, our children and our grandchildren, through every generation.
Happy birthday, my dearest @BarbieItungoK .
I love you❤️

The events of these past days confirm one timeless truth - no one can escape the effects of impunity and lawlessness.
On Thursday night, a young, outspoken NRM apologist, Ivan Mwijukye, was intercepted by regime operatives in Mpigi while travelling by bus from Mbarara. He was abducted, and his whereabouts remain unknown - except that Museveni’s brutal son posted his picture on handcuffs!
Today, armed men in plainclothes brazenly stormed Radio Simba studios in Kampala and dragged Charles Rwomushana out of a live broadcast. His whereabouts remain unknown! (They join Matthew Bagonza, another NRM supporter who was abducted over a week ago and remains missing.)
Both men have always mocked and justified the brutal repression, torture, and enforced disappearances of our people. They have always victimised the victims of brutality in their public commentary.
But at this moment, when the criminal regime turns the machine of terror against them, we must take the higher moral ground. Our struggle is not for selective justice or personal vengeance. It is for the rule of law and the constitutional rights of every single Ugandan.
We unequivocally condemn these abductions and call for the release of these citizens. We know so well that Ivan's crime was questioning Museveni’s son's tribal bigotry, and Rwomushana's crime was comparing him to the Biblical prodigal son.
We must not stand by and condone this ridiculous clampdown on free expression. These criminals' intention is to silence everyone, but they are terrible students of history. Seeking to silence a nation through terror never wins in the end.
What more? I hope those who are still massaging the egos of these criminals can learn a few lessons and apply some breaks to their sycophancy. It is not hard to predict what awaits them, unless they work with everyone else to restore sanity and put an end to this madness.

Dr. Kizza Besigye - an icon of our struggle, a pillar of resilience, and a true elder of the Ugandan liberation movement.
For decades, Dr. Besigye has consistently chosen conviction over comfort. He has remained steadfast and completely unyielding in the face of brutal persecution, multiple unlawful detentions, and constant threats to his life.
The Museveni regime continues to harass and torment him in the hope that they will break his spirit. Yet, through it all, he continues to stand firm - his spirit unbroken.
While we can never repay him for his enduring leadership and refusal to bow to tyranny, we can stand with him in his hour of need. I am grateful to our friends who have launched this solidarity campaign to raise funds for his welfare and mounting legal costs while he and his colleagues continue to languish in jail.
I encourage all of us to be part of this effort. Let us contribute whatever we can to support this cause. My wife @BarbieItungoK and I are making a modest contribution of UGX 5,000,000.
By standing together during these challenging times, we send a clear message to the regime: they can jail our bodies, but they can never jail our solidarity. Their attempts to throw us into disarray will not yield. Together, we shall overcome.

Fare thee well Paul Musoke.
We hope against hope that the arsonists who murdered you will be brought to book.

PAUL MUSOKE was a young patriot. A committed foot soldier. A disciplined youth leader who went through the @NUP_Ug School of Leadership. Last week, Paul's house was attacked. It's door was closed from outside before being set on fire. He sustained severe injuries before being rushed to hospital by the neighbours. Despite every effort, Paul did not make it. Yesterday evening, he passed on at only 27 years of age. Such a tragic loss. Paul joins our countless comrades and supporters who have died under the most painful, brutal circumstances. In almost all cases, perpetrators of these crimes are never brought to book. Paul deserves justice. Fare thee well comrade.

No, this criminality must stop! The first time they did a cleaning campaign, people were brutalised and maimed. Today, they've taken in a notch higher - a citizen has been shot dead in cold blood in Ndejje! According to onlookers, the police and military committed this crime while forcing boda boda riders to stop and sweep. Just like that, an unarmed citizen lost his life to these trigger happy criminals!

As a Ugandan, it fills me with pride to see an illustrious son of our nation carry a lifetime of global service, a fierce commitment to the vulnerable, and a deep passion for justice to the world stage.
For years, many of us have followed with great respect, Ambassador Olara Otunnu’s incredible track record at the United Nations.
His work championing human rights and protecting children in armed conflict is exactly the kind of leadership the global community desperately needs right now. True leadership is measured by integrity, vision, and an unwavering dedication to peace and justice.
We can not forget the historical injustice when the Museveni regime vindictively denied him an endorsement for this very position years ago. They blocked him for simply refusing to stay silent about the atrocities they were committing against our people. Perhaps if he had risen to that position at the time, the world would be fairer, more just, and more peaceful.
Central to his vision is a profound passion for genuine multilateral reform, where international institutions must evolve beyond mere arenas of superpower politics to become true instruments of equity, accountability, and shared prosperity for all nations.
I hear some citizens who are raising tough questions about why the regime has suddenly changed its mind to endorse him now. Your scepticism is understandable, given what the bloodthirsty regime is doing to our people. And I know Ambassador Otunnu to be a man of deep humility who welcomes free speech and receives your concerns with grace. We can all bank on his long-term, proven integrity and hope that when he rises to become the world’s top diplomat, he will never turn a blind eye to the ongoing struggle for freedom in his own motherland. As he has consistently acknowledged, Uganda faces dark spots that need fixing.
Ambassador Otunnu has my full solidarity and prayers as he carries our collective aspirations for a fairer world to the global stage.

To all comrades in struggle: Be mindful of who you communicate with, especially new contacts who suddenly reach out to you. Also, be mindful of old friends who unexpectedly call or reconnect.
Be curious. Be cautious. Be protective of one another—brothers and sisters alike. We are at a crossroads as a country, and our comrades are being targeted.
Stay alert. Stay safe. Look out for one another.

Passed by Kiruddu hospital this evening to check on our comrade Paul Musoke who suffered severe burns when the house in which he was, was attacked, locked and set on fire. According to the medical team, his condition is critical but stable. We shall be hoping for an independent and quick investigation to establish the motive of the attack. Hopefully the perpetrator(s) will be brought to book! Wishing him a full recovery.
