Constable William Grant was a member of @YRP for 4 years and 26 years old when killed in the line of duty on Oct 9, 1984. After attempting to stop a vehicle driving erratically, the driver turned his vehicle around and drove straight at the officer, killing Grant. #HeroesInLife

Today we remember High County Constable John Fisk, the first known police officer killed in the line of duty in Canada. On October 7, 1804, while he was escorting a prisoner to trial, Fisk's ship sank in a storm, taking Fisk and all other passengers to their deaths. #HeroesInLife

Thank you @fordnation for supporting our members and our communities. The assault, injury or murder of a police officer is an attack on the people who have sworn to protect our communities and on the safety of those communities themselves.
Police officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. The least we can do in response is have their backs, no matter what. Today, I wrote to the Prime Minister outlining a series of practical steps to support and protect our brave women and men in uniform.

Today, we raise the Every Child Matters flag in recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who continue to carry their stories and experiences.
