📌 Une révolte du hijab en Azerbaïdjan
Fin septembre, le gouvernement azerbaïdjanais interdit le hijab dans les écoles publiques. En octobre, enseignantes et élèves voilées sont sorties des classes par la force. Elles protestent. Les parents les rejoignent. En vingt-quatre heures, le nombre d'arrestations passe de 37 à plus de 200. Les réseaux sociaux sont restreints, mais les vidéos circulent.
Dans son analyse publiée par @AGOSgazetesi le 14 octobre 2026, @YesVicken , journaliste et enseignant en relations internationales à l’Université de Genève, y voit bien plus qu'une querelle anecdotique. Ilham Aliyev avait déjà tenté une mesure similaire en 2010, avant de reculer. Cette fois, il s'est cru intouchable. Mais l'élite laïque et russophone de Bakou ne comprend pas l'islam populaire, rural et azérophone de son propre pays. Résultat : la religion devient un levier de contestation contre l'autoritarisme.
La crise déborde aussi les frontières; et fait réagir Ankara. L'AKP d'Erdoğan, pour qui la lutte contre les interdictions du foulard est centrale, se reconnaît dans les victimes de cette décision. Un conseiller du président turc a condamné publiquement la répression. Le parti au pouvoir à Bakou lui a demandé de rester à l’écart des affaires intérieures de l’Azerbaïdjan.
Vicken Cheterian estime que la popularité d’Ilham Aliyev, que le nettoyage ethnique des Arméniens du Haut-Karabakh a porté à son apogée en 2023, est sérieusement écornée par cette crise interne.

Albanization of Armenian churches is not an accommodation or even appropriation. It’s conceptual erasure preceding the physical one. Just ask Hikmet Hajiyev: in 2017 he published this map acknowledging [destroyed] churches in Nakhichevan, churches he now says never ever existed.
Together with the diplomatic corps, we visited the Ganjasar and Khudavang churches — an integral part of the ancient Albanian Christian heritage.
Ganjasar was established in the 13th century by Hasan-Jalal Dawla, the Caucasian Albanian ruler, and stands as an important testament to the centuries-old Christian heritage of Caucasian Albania.
During the years of occupation, these monuments were subjected to external interventions under the guise of makeshift “restoration,” compromising their architectural authenticity and original character.
Every historical, cultural and religious monument on the territory of Azerbaijan, irrespective of its origin or religious affiliation, forms an integral part of our country’s rich cultural heritage. The Azerbaijani state is committed to their protection, preservation and restoration.
Azerbaijan’s experience in safeguarding its multicultural and multireligious heritage has earned international recognition. We stand ready to share this experience with other countries, including our neighbors.
We also invite media outlets engaged in spreading fake news and misleading narratives on this issue to visit these sites and see the reality on the ground for themselves.
