the biggest feedback we heard last year with creator awards was a better nominations system (its coming!) and a non-laggy game / stable frames. tomorrow i'll be doing a play test to test performance improvements and i encourage everyone to attend with their weakest device

tomorrows (hopeful) stress test will be a stripped back version of last years map, and itll just require you to stay in the server for X minutes. we have a better performance mode that should automatically switch you to it if your device lags

- ai on roblox has been here to stay since 2022 - there is an stark contrast between GenAI and asking an LLM to do invisible back-end work - GenAI and AI coding shouldnt be looped into the same conversation - the vast majority of roblox ppl on this site are <16 who do not make games but feel compelled to share their thoughts on game dev 2c

by GenAI i refer to diffusion based models for creating visuals like images, videos, models, textures, animations, etc. AI coding is also by definition generative AI, so just wanted to provide a correction. thank you for letting me know! all very new to me

for context: since 2017 i have wanted an SVG importer plugin that lets me take an SVG that I made and import it as a mesh into roblox. I have asked 10-15 programmers in the past decade if I could commission them to make something like that. all have declined

those tools *could* have been made years ago but they weren't, and now theyre here with the help of ai coding. if these tools now exist, can help people expand on their ideas and make existing ideas reality that were thought to be impossible, then where do we stand?

and this is the part i am trying to understand here. this is something ive wanted to have for years, and have been unable to because nobody was interested in making it. now that it *can* be made (with ai unfortunately) there is a moral stance people must take.

if AI coding is here to stay (i cannot see it ever leaving), then can I ever get this plugin made without the help of ai? if i commission a programmer that wants to make it, whats the likelihood that they're not using ai? where do we stand?

if youve been following me you know that I am outspoken against generative AI. i think it deserves no place in the game dev industry, let alone roblox. then i see people making tools to benefit the wider roblox development circle that can only be done with ai assisted tooling
