🇺🇦 A humanitarian operation has helped rescue people from Oleshky in the Kherson region.
During a temporary ceasefire, roads to Oleshky were cleared of mines, humanitarian aid was delivered, and civilians in need of evacuation were brought out of the city and surrounding community.
The evacuated Ukrainians have now crossed the Ukrainian border in the Chernihiv region and will receive the assistance they need.
The operation was made possible with the US mediation, including First Lady Melania Trump. Ukraine’s Defence Forces ensured the security conditions for the mission, while Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and his team carried it out. The efforts of everyone who helped draw international attention to the humanitarian crisis in Oleshky also played an important role.
We hope humanitarian access to Oleshky will remain open so that more people can receive help.

Mine the sea. Attack the ports. Strike civilian ships. Threaten food routes.
Then ask to chair the body responsible for protecting the Black Sea.
At some point, the absurdity stops being funny.
It rewards the very behaviour the system is meant to stop.
🌊 Today is International Black Sea Day. Under the current circumstances, it is not a day to celebrate the sea's immense opportunities, but to raise awareness of the catastrophic consequences of Russia's war of aggression for it.
Thirty years ago, six Black Sea states came together to protect the sea from pollution and environmental destruction. Since 2014, Putin's imperial ambitions have made Russia the greatest threat to our sea, turning its waters into a battlefield and a source of pollution, destruction and danger for the entire region.
Russia's occupation and militarisation of Crimea, the mining of shipping routes, and repeated attacks on Ukrainian ports and coastal infrastructure have inflicted severe damage on the Black Sea. Moscow has made the sea increasingly dangerous for every country on its shores, threatening marine ecosystems, freedom of navigation, international trade and global food security.
The environmental consequences of Russia's aggression will persist long after the fighting ends. No Black Sea country can shield itself from this damage, and the longer Russia continues its war, the higher the price the whole region will pay.
It is particularly outrageous that Russia, the country responsible for this destruction, sought to assume the chairmanship of the Black Sea Commission. Earlier this week, Ukraine blocked this attempt. A state that systematically undermines the protection of the Black Sea cannot be entrusted with leading the body responsible for safeguarding it.
I urge all Black Sea states to show greater resolve in confronting Russia's actions and demanding accountability for the damage it has caused. We all share the consequences of this aggression. The region must act now, rather than spend decades repairing damage that can still be prevented.

Moscow speaks of partnership and a prosperous future for Africa. Yet reports keep emerging of African citizens ending up on the battlefield in Ukraine after being lured to Russia with promises of jobs, education, and better opportunities. Some are now reported missing or dead, while their families struggle to find out what happened to them.
"Treating African lives as expendable while preaching equal partnership is colonial exploitation in its most cynical form," Ukraine's Foreign Minister @andrii_sybiha has commented.
African governments have an important role to play in stopping these recruitment schemes. This means investigating the networks behind them and warning people about fraudulent job offers. Ukraine is ready to share information and work with African partners to establish the fate of those sent to Russia’s war.

Pro-Kremlin accounts are circulating a video to claim that Ukrainian air defences caused the deadly Russian drone strike on Dnipro railway station on 29 October.
But the video was already posted on TikTok on 11 June — more than four months before the attack.
No amount of disinformation can erase the reality of Russia’s attacks on civilians.

What a crazy time we live in. In 2022-26, there were thousands of cases of Russia using chemical weapons.
And… RU is running now for Executive Council of Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

We are grateful to Slovenia for standing with Ukraine.
Russia cannot be allowed to turn Ukrainian cities into targets and civilian lives into casualties of its war.
Every attack must strengthen our resolve to protect people, support Ukraine’s defence, and ensure justice for Russia’s crimes.
🇸🇮 #Slovenia strongly condemns Russia’s horrific attack on civilians in Dnipro, 🇺🇦 Ukraine, which has claimed innocent lives and left many others injured.
Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. Deliberate attacks against civilians are prohibited under international humanitarian law. Russia must be held accountable for its actions.
Thank you President @WilliamsRuto for reaffirming that territorial integrity applies to EVERY nation and that international relations must be guided by sovereign equality not power or spheres of influence

Dear @ZelenskyyUa, I am heartbroken at the news of the senseless and indiscriminate attack that Russia has carried out in Dnipro.
My sincere condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones, and to the people of Ukraine.
Together with our allies, we must do everything in our power to mount pressure on the aggressor.
This is why strengthening our support for Ukraine will be high on my agenda in Montréal.
And tomorrow, @EU_Commission will put forward a proposal to allocate the remaining €45 billion of the Ukraine Support Loan for 2027 defence needs and budget support.
Mine another country for years.
Leave millions living with the consequences.
Then take a leading role in UN mine action.
Apparently, even absurdity now gets a diplomatic title.
Ukraine is the most mine-contaminated country in the world after over 12 years of Russian aggression.
Yet the country responsible for contaminating vast areas of Ukrainian land is now set to play a leading role in global mine action as Russian ambassador has been appointed to lead UN mine action.
“Entrusting this responsibility to a representative of the aggressor state is deeply troubling and undermines trust in the United Nations,” @SpoxUkraineMFA Heorhii Tykhyi has commented.
“This appointment confirms what has been known for years: Russia’s illegitimate occupation of the Soviet Union’s permanent seat on the UN Security Council poisons the entire UN system.”

A horrific Russian strike on the railway station in Dnipro. The Russians launched a drone attack on a platform where an ordinary commuter train and a scheduled passenger train were standing. Unfortunately, 13 people have been confirmed killed as of now. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Ten more people were injured. All necessary emergency services are working at the scene.
Just how many terrorist strikes has Russia carried out against our people since sanctions were lifted on certain Russian oligarchs and the Russian energy sector, rather than de-escalating? This is precisely why Ukraine has always said that just and decisive action by America and Europe is needed in response to Russian escalation – sanctions against Moscow and its war machine must not be eased for as long as this Russian war continues. It is time for new, stronger sanctions steps by the EU, the United States, and the G7. I thank everyone who is ready to help in this way.

Never forget: russia has spent centuries trying to erase Ukrainian identity.
In late October 1937, during Stalin’s Great Terror, Soviet authorities began mass executions at Sandarmokh.
Between October 27 and November 4, 1,111 prisoners were executed there, including 287 Ukrainians and people connected to Ukraine.
Les Kurbas. Mykola Kulish. Valerian Pidmohylny.
Among the victims were leading figures of the Ukrainian cultural renaissance of the 1920s — the Executed Renaissance.
89 years later, russia is still trying to erase Ukrainian identity.
They tried to erase us then. They will not erase us now.
Yesterday in Moscow: Russia offered Africa help fighting terrorism
Today in Ukraine - civilians killed at railway station, homes and city streets, including two 15-year-old girls
Before offering lessons on counter-terrorism - stop terrorising Ukrainian civilians and children
At least 17 people have been killed in Russia's latest attacks on Ukrainian cities, including two 15-year-old girls.
In Dnipro, Russian drones struck a railway station, hitting a platform where a commuter train and a scheduled passenger train were standing. At least 13 people were killed and 10 others injured.
In Chernihiv, Russia struck the city centre in broad daylight, when the streets were busy with people. Two 15-year-old girls were killed, and at least nine other people were injured, including children. Homes, businesses, and cars were damaged.
In Kremenchuk, Poltava region, a Russian drone hit a residential apartment building, killing two people and injuring nine, including two children. In Zaporizhzhia, an FPV drone struck a minibus in the city centre, injuring one person.
Russia also attacked a poultry farm in the Kyiv region, where approximately 16,000 birds were kept.
These are ordinary places where people live, work, and travel. Russia continues to attack them, killing civilians and putting more lives at risk.
Russia is not de-escalating its war against Ukraine. Easing sanctions while these attacks continue only weakens pressure on the aggressor. Stronger sanctions against Russia's energy sector and war machine are needed to stop its aggression.

Russia celebrates $27bn in trade with Africa.
Though it was already about $24.5bn in 2023.
Africa trades around $1.46tn in goods annually.
That puts Russia below 2%.
Almost 40% of Russia’s Africa trade is with Egypt alone.
