Thank you @CoachRossJames and @UIndyWBB for a great visit and practice today! I loved the opportunity to learn more about UIndy and what it has to offer!
Training does not replace PLAYING. Putting a suction cup on a pool noodle and slapping it on the backboard isn’t the same as going against a shot blocker. Crossing over on a mat isn’t the same as going vs someone crawling into you.
1v1, 2v2, 3v3 is still the best teacher.

Lots of 1v1 in the gym today. I’m a huge believer in getting better by playing.
No cones. No mats. Just unscripted playing.
AAU is over for the summer, here are some things learned:
1) Coaches watch the circuits, but they watch the independents just as much.
2) Player Rankings don’t matter.
3) Players should focus more on who’s
coaching, and not the program name.
4) Play more. Train less.

Some trainers, not all, are ruining the sport. No one just plays anymore. Play 1v1, 3v3, 5v5. Play pickup! To steal from another coach- training and the actual sport are two totally different things.
