One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.
So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."
Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.
There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.
But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.
Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:
1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)
In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.
The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.
If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.
But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

Took my daughter for her first haircut Saturday
My wife picked the place
She said it was cute
Not sure how a haircut can be cute but went anyway
Fire truck chairs
A TV at every station
A wall of lollipops by the register
I counted the 6 chairs before I sat down
Then the 4 stylists
Then the 5 kids in the waiting area
Nobody was leaving
My daughter picked fire truck number 4
The stylist asked what we were doing today
My wife said just a little off the bottom
I started my Timex
The stylist handed her a lollipop
Then picked up the scissors
In that order
She did not move for 5 minutes
She has never sat that still for me
I wrote that down
4 minutes 58 seconds
Including the lollipop
At the register
$40
Before the iPad flipped around
My wife said don't
I already had my phone out
$40 for 5 minutes
$8 a minute
$480 an hour
Per chair
I asked the woman at the desk about their hours
She said 9 to 6, six days a week
I asked about vacation
She said two weeks at Christmas
She asked why
I said no reason
2,700 hours a year
At $480 an hour
$1,296,000
Per fire truck
4 stylists working
$5.2 million a year
In a strip mall
Next to a mattress store
I have spent 10+ years buying companies that make things
The last one made industrial valves
11% margins
8 months of inventory in a warehouse
Customers pay us in 90 days
If they pay
This place had my money before she finished the lollipop
No inventory
My daughter grows it for them
At home
Half an inch a month
Then we pay $40 to drop it off
Plus tip
The stylist already had us down for 8 weeks from now
Nobody asked me
Then I looked at chairs 5 and 6
Nobody in them
Still 5 kids waiting
$2,592,000 a year
Just sitting there
I asked the woman at the desk why
She said they can't find stylists
I asked what they pay
She told me
I said well there it is
I have set that number myself
At 3 different companies
I texted my analyst a picture of the sign
He replied in 30 seconds
"Sir. On it."
Then
"They have 11 locations"
Then
"Are the lollipops cost of goods or marketing"
In the car I told my wife I've been doing it wrong for 10+ years
She said she knows
She said you are not buying a kids haircut place
I said no
I said all 11
Saturdays go to $55
From the back seat my daughter asked if she gets free haircuts now
I said yes
She asked if the lady who cut her hair gets free haircuts
I said no
She went back to her lollipop

You spend your life rooting for the Bills because you know one day it’ll all be worth it. Every blown lead. Every ruined Sunday.
All building toward that one perfect moment when they finally find a new way to lose in the playoffs that you hadn’t even considered before.

If youre wondering why Hollywood had to rush to make a smear film about a guy who catches pedophiles, heres why:
An AI video of Steve Sarkisian slapping my sister might legit be the funniest thing I’d ever see in my life
Imagine Holly Rowe’s face in that despicable AI video was your daughter’s. Your wife’s. Your sister’s.
Still funny?
This is gross on so many levels. And no, this isn’t people being “too sensitive” or “easily offended.”
Joking about this in a room full of media members and seeing everyone laugh like this? Shame on you.
A woman being hit isn’t a punchline. Tell that to a domestic violence survivor. Sickening.
Holly Rowe is a phenomenal reporter who has spent decades earning respect in this industry. Some things just aren’t funny.

So the Left is really running on welfare for foreigners?
Mamdani announces that he's suing the Trump admin over the new rule that allows them to deny green cards to foreigners who are likely to rely on welfare.
Says that "four million people will unenroll from their healthcare" and that "people will die" if more green cards aren't given to welfare dependent foreigners.

I reread this every year.
I cry like a baby every year.
Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero.
Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked.
Lisa: I understand. Can they see you?
Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake.
Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor.
Lisa: Are you okay?
Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again.
Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?
Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan.
Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call.
Lisa: I promise.
Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy.
Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.)
Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol.
Todd: I understand. I’ll be back.
Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot.
Lisa: What are you going to do?
Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out.
Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.
Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.
