Replying to @higgsfield_ai
@higgsfield_ai sent us a cease and desist last night, asking us to shut down our Open Source Higgsfield challenge.
Our read on why they sent it. When the apps people pay for can be rebuilt in the open in two weeks, that’s an uncomfortable thing for a closed platform to watch.
So here’s us reiterating our promise to every builder in the challenge and community, and we’re keeping it:
• The challenge stays open
• Final submissions close tomorrow, Oct 30
• Winners are announced Nov 6, with prizes paid as promised
You showed up for each other. We’re showing up for you.
If we win, we all win!
Comfy out 🫡
Last night, @higgsfield sent @ComfyUI a cease and desist (attached)
They want the Open Source Higgsfield challenge taken down within 48 hours.
Their argument is that our use of the Higgsfield name and that using their CEO's likeness is an infringement violation (man, the irony). Claiming that it makes the event look like Higgsfield is associated with it.
This couldn't be farther from the truth, which is that Higgsfield made a promise to open source its product and never did.
For the past two weeks, builders have been recreating popular closed apps as open workflows anyone can run.
So we asked our community to deliver where Higgsfield failed: apps in the open, built by the community, for the community. We've made it clear that the challenge is organized by ComfyUI and not affiliated with or endorsed by Higgsfield.
When we started Comfy, we made the community a promise. Our product stays open, free, and yours. We’ve kept it every day since, and one letter isn’t going to change that.
The challenge stays up. Comfy and open source will win!

Lighting and comp bring the world to life, but it all begins with animation.
Here’s how those layers meet in the final frame!

Inflatable Unicorn — from model to magic 🦄🎈
Here’s a smooth look at our Inflatable Unicorn’s journey: starting with a clean 3D model that nails the air-filled silhouette, then revealing the wireframe where tidy edge flow shapes panel seams and the valve, and finally the polished render—glossy vinyl, soft speculars, faint scuffs, and a touch of translucency. One playful character, carried from tidy geo to a finish that feels ready to squeak off the screen.

For any wannabe animators - this is 'probably' the first exercize you should do.
No fancy rigs, no rotoscope, just observation.
Two balls, one bowling, one Ping-pong.
Two different weight profiles to train your 🧠 on convincing weight.

So stoked to have @ZenDoubt in on Publique. We talked years ago about this project, now on the tail end of releases and we’re making it happen.
Congratulations to @ZenDoubt on becoming our next producer!
Winning Bid: 6 SOL
We are thrilled to have another talented animator in our producer group
This step is truly the hardest step of all in filmmaking as I’ve come to understand.
Our storyboarders are architects of the action.💥
Witness how they rip the staging out of Arcane Season 2's script, a vital phase for nailing the choregraphic moments. In other words: they blend artistry with mechanics of cinematic language.

Eerily similar to another movie. I wonder how long it takes before this style is out of fashion.

A look behind the digital cam of 3D animation, what the camera sees is never what the audience sees. Now that's what I call: Digital Movie magic ✨

When I made this animation as a style test, I started flirting with stepped animation. There’s something about the texture it adds to the motion that I can’t get enough of.
People who don’t understand film think like this.
The final image isn’t the barrier.
Most people have no good ideas. Those that do, can’t translate that to screen. Those that can, understand the difficulty doesn’t lie in the final picture it lies in the foundation.
Animation styles in AI are now incredible. Turning these frames into cinematic shots in AI video gen, also looking good
So what’s keeping us from seeing the first super high end AI animated series at this point? Is it just talent, financing, something else?
Seems like we’re still a while from live action that’s at the quality of big budget productions but animation is already there. So why aren’t we seeing a flood?

From Previs to Final Animation 🎬✨
Here’s a look at how a shot evolves before render
Starting with previs to lock camera, staging, and timing; moving into blocking for clear poses and beats; then spline and polish to refine spacing, arcs, overlap, and facial performance
The same moment, now with character intent and rhythm fully dialed in

For animator Juan Fernando Fabián Zapata this sequence from The Rise of Blus stood out as a favorite
Whether it was the acting, the rhythm, or the storytelling, something about this shot made it extra special
We love seeing those moments where the craft and the connection shine through
Great work, Juan!

Lighting Review 🔦✨
Join our lighting team as they refine the mood and depth of a key scene
Tweaking intensity, color balance, and shadow strength to bring emotion and focus where it matters most
In this behind-the-scenes clip, you’ll see how small adjustments in light placement and tone can completely change the feel of a shot
