Swain looked like a completely different player against Memphis than he did against Phoenix. After looking hesitant and uncomfortable handling the ball in Chicago's preseason opener, Swain was much more confident bringing the ball up the floor and initiating the offense. He made some beautiful passes, got into the paint and showed flashes of the offensive creativity that made him such an intriguing prospect coming out of Texas. •𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐝: -Tobe Awaka is fighting for his life out there. Awaka deserves a ton of credit for battling on the interior, but there's only so much a guy his size can do against legitimate seven-footers. Zach Edey and Cam Boozer gave Chicago fits around the basket, and the absence of Nic Claxton, Jalen Smith and Zach Collins was painfully obvious. Awaka is a tremendous rebounder and brings great energy, but expecting him to consistently battle players who tower over him is asking a little too much. Chicago needs its big men back, and preferably sooner rather than later. •𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐠𝐥𝐲: -The Bulls' perimeter defense is looking like a disaster waiting to happen. Josh Giddey continues to struggle navigating switches in the screen game, while Caleb Wilson and Matas Buzelis have been taking some downright awful angles on their closeouts. Opposing players are blowing right past Chicago's initial defenders, forcing everyone else to scramble around trying to put out fires. One bad closeout turns into a defensive rotation. That rotation turns into an open shooter or an easy look at the rim. It's a domino effect, and right now the Bulls are knocking over the first domino themselves. ⚡️@luke_kurtz1⚡️ 💥𝐵𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑘𝑠 𝐷𝑜𝑤𝑛 𝐿𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝑁𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡'𝑠 𝐶𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝐺𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝐴𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑡 𝑀𝑒𝑚𝑝ℎ𝑖𝑠 🔗roundtable.io/sports/nba/bul… 👥@TheRoundtaBulls | #ChicagoBulls | #BullsNation
