The essence of commitment in a gay relationship should not be centered on attraction alone. Looks can draw you to someone, but emotional maturity, loyalty, trust, understanding and the willingness to grow together are d key points that sustains a relationship.
Running this story on X breaks my heart 馃挃馃槶
My late uncle Bernard (left) died from cancer last year December. He was 78years when he passed. He is married to a woman and he has three children.
I found this photo of him and another man in one of his stashed trash, covered in an old envelope.
He has always been my favorite uncle. He once told me "Live your life to the full, you are safe under the rainbow 馃寛 ", I didn't know what he meant, not until I saw this photo.
I use to think older men are the go to when it comes to a relationship, but I guess i was wrong.
Back in 2023 November, I remembered dating a man Fredrick 56 when I was was 25. He was everything I actually wanted in an older man (warm, sweet and calm). He would always tease that men my age understood him better than men his age.
Then his 27years old ex texted me one night
' dont move in with him. I lived with him for two years, we built a life together but when I asked him about our future, he called me entitled '
Initially I thought he was just bitter not until Fredrick asked me to move in with him.
However, I confronted Fredrick with the story his ex shared with me, he just said " His relationship with his ex was complicated but ours is different "
So i asked him confidently why he kept dating younger men, he said men his age came with too much baggage. That stayed with me.
That was when I realized his ex might not have being jealous, he was simply trying to save me from making his mistake.
I ended things with Fred even before the year was over. Its 2026 now and I still wonder whether I walked away from a man who loved me or escaped a pattern I was too young to recognize.
It is crazy how certain gay men do not want a relationship but only want the benefits of having a boyfriend without the responsibility of being one.
Some gay men are chasing endless hookups while others are choosing one man to build a life with. Neither is superior, but MONOGAMY is not missing out.
You do not have to experience everyone to appreciate someone.
Why do some gay men assume that every relationship between two men requires one to play the masculine role and the other feminine role
Can't two men love each other without assigning each other traditional gender roles?
I feel like we have normalized a dating culture where someone can spend hours flirting with you, make you feel wanted and then treat you like you never mattered the moment you no longer meet their expectations. Smh
Last week Friday, I went to a club with my bff. Straight and gay people both came around, but you could hardly tell who was who. We were just there to have fun when I noticed this fine, muscular guy winking at me. At first, I thought he was looking at a girl behind me, but when I turned around, nobody was there. We kept exchanging glances throughout the night.
Then I steped out to use the bathroom and to my surprise, he followed me.
Hmm, he said hey to me and I replied hi.
He asked if he could get my friend鈥檚 number. 馃槶 I almost felt embarrassed. In my head, I was like, Dude, we have literally been staring at each other all night! 馃槀
I told him to ask my friend himself, but he said he was too shy and feared being rejected.
I gave him the number after getting my friends permission. When I returned inside, my friend looked at me and said, 'So, that fine guy has been staring at you all night, only to ask for my number?'
We both burst out laughing. 馃槀 Apparently, sometimes the person you think is checking you out is just using you as a distraction while gathering courage for your friend.
MAGA talks a lot about freedom, but where does it stand on gay marriage? 馃嚭馃嚫馃寛
According to Gallup鈥檚 May 2026 poll, only 37% of Republican supported legal same sex marriage, compared with 87% of Democrats and 65% of Americans overall.
But why should the freedom of two adults to marry be a political battle in the first place?
Ngl, grindr culture has made it very hard for some gay men to settle down with one person. Some of us have become so use to endless options that we struggle to appreciate one good person.
There is no such thing as a perfect gay relationship because there is no such thing as a perfect people.
The moment you decide to make a man your better half, you need to be prepared to tolerate their excesses.
The gay community talks alot about acceptance, but some gay men will reject another gay man for being too feminine, too short, too old, too soft or simply not attractive enough for them.
I met a guy on Tinder, we became close and eventually became bf. We were both verse, bt he enjoyed toping more, so I was happy to explore the other side with him. Our relationship was swt, and we genuinely enjoyed our intimate life together.
Then 3yrs ago I developed complications from piles and could no longer have sex comfortably. It devastated me because my boyf had a high libido and I was scared this would affect our relationship.
However, instead of supporting me, he started acting strangely. He became distant and made the relationship increasingly difficult, as though my inability to have sex was a problem I was deliberately creating.
Eventually, he broke up with me when I needed him the most.
I later consulted a doctor who advised me to take about two months off sex to allow my condition to improve before resuming, depending on my recovery.
All I needed was time to heal. We could have found other ways to be intimate and enjoyed each other company while I recovered. But he could not wait.
3yrs later, that experience still hurts. I was not even rejecting him I was dealing with a health problem I could not control 馃槶
Sometimes, the hardest part of being sick is not the illness itself. It is discovering that the person you thought would stand by you does not want to stay when things get difficult.
How do you see something this beautiful and term it a menace? All we ever wanted is to live freely like THIS and not being constantly questioned, condemned or treated like a script of argument.
