You've got to love the conservative old guard accusing anyone to their Right of being a "traitor" because they're pointing out the obvious contradictions in their own civic nationalist/classically liberal worldview. How can you commit "treason" against a people that doesn't exist? According to these people, no one is an American unless they adhere to a series of propositional ideals, and anyone can become an American if they recite a creed. That necessarily means that their definition of "treason" against the American people is the same thing as non-adherence to an ideological agenda. The two things are essentially identical. And what's the penalty for "treason"? What price do propositional Conservatives inflict upon those who betray the American ideal? Absolutely nothing. We have an entire political party in this country whose very purpose for existing is to subvert the proposition itself, and Conservatives treat these people like debating adversaries and "fellow Americans". Show me the "civic nationalist", "classically liberal", "propositional Conservative" who is willing to publicly support a forcible dissolution of the Democratic Party, combined with the arrest, denaturalization, and deportation of every single elected Democrat in the entire country who has ever voted for any of the various policy positions we associate with Gay Race Communism, and I'll begin to believe that civic nationalism has the necessary teeth to defend itself. The irony is that every accusation of "treason" by these people is only directed one way, and it's always against their own Right flank. Never in my entire life have I ever seen these people fight a single person on the Left so viciously as they have those of us on the Right. These people will do everything in their power to silence, deplatform, cancel, fire, and otherwise gatekeep against anyone who dares to point out the obvious contradictions and flaws within their own worldview, because saying the quiet part out loud reveals to everyone that these people are little more than the right hand of Progressivism, which is busy choking out the American people. Leftists can elect literal Communists to office who celebrate 9/11 and fantasize about murdering the children of their political opponents. They'll hire insane activists who openly declare that their intention is to "impoverish the White middle class." They will carry legislation and implement policies to openly discriminate against White Men in government contracting, university admissions, public services, and the tax code, and the conservative old guard will defend their Constitutional rights to continue doing so, even as they accuse us of betraying the very country these people are openly trying to murder on a daily basis. You do not have nearly enough contempt for these people.
