A Promise Made, A Promise Kept: Securing Staff Welfare and Academic Stability in Our Tertiary Institutions.
For too long, unresolved agreements and industrial disputes have disrupted academic calendars, forcing students to spend five, six or even seven years completing four-year programmes. Following our landmark ASUU Agreement, today we took another decisive step towards ending this cycle.
I am pleased to have unveiled 12 Federal Government Agreements with Academic and Non-Academic Staff Unions across universities, polytechnics and colleges of education, covering ASUP, COEASU, SSANU, NASU, NAAT, SSANIP, NOTSUP and SSUCOEN.
Like the ASUU Agreement, the 12 agreements introduce the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) and Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowance (CONTTA), effective 1 January 2026, with strengthened oversight to ensure full implementation.
Beyond staff welfare, these agreements will support uninterrupted learning, more effective institutional management and improved academic stability. Together with our proposed Nigeria Higher Education Ranking and Assessment Classification (NHERAC), we are laying the foundation for stronger, more accountable tertiary institutions.
I commend the unions and the negotiating committee, chaired by Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, CFR, and thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his leadership in making this milestone possible.
Our goal is simple: better-supported staff, better-run institutions and students who graduate on time.
A four-year course must be a four-year course. A promise made. A promise kept.

Yayi ni joor, Yayi ni jare !!!
FROM DEPLORABLE AND IMPASSABLE TO FULLY MOTORABLE: WE HAVE COMPLETED ABEBI ROAD IN OTA
We have successfully completed and delivered the reconstruction of Abebi Road in Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, transforming the once-deplorable and virtually impassable road into a fully motorable route for the benefit of our people.
Before our intervention, the road had deteriorated significantly, making movement difficult for residents, motorists and business owners who depend on it for their daily activities.
Through this intervention, we have restored accessibility, improved vehicular movement and enhanced connectivity within the community, bringing much-needed relief to residents and road users who previously endured difficult travelling conditions.
This project is part of our sustained commitment to addressing critical infrastructure challenges, improving road networks and enhancing the quality of life of our people across Ogun State.
With the completion of Abebi Road, we have delivered yet another important infrastructure project, and we remain committed to facilitating more people-oriented projects across our communities.

lol 😂 dey play from ondo it’ll follow the blue line
Based on this new interview, this is what we should be expecting.
Once again, if this is true, I must commend the Minister and PBAT for this thoughtful approach.
Anything outside this won't speak well of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. The people of the Niger-Delta can take a deep breath with this and pray that this continues as planned.
For now, all fingers crossed. 🤞🤗
Without that road the eastern Yoruba will have almost 30-50 years setback Ondo,Ekiti and Osun will suffer it but they’ll short sighted
It’s still the same thing I don’t know why you guys don’t understand, they’ll still divert the road to pass through east west road and will not pass through the initial alignment.
🚨 UPDATE:
Minister David Umahi speaks on the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway:
— Ondo and delta state will get their own coastline highway.
— The East West 400km road alignment, is an ADDITIONAL construction that got the approval of President Tinubu.
— The East West additional alignment WILL NOT STOP the Lagos-Calabar Highway previous construction plan.
Me: I don they boil since yesterday, everything’s was just irritating me since. Atleast I can be happy once more.
PBAT, David umahi, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Olatunji Ojo, all senators and house of representatives in ondo has failed ondo state, failed the south and Nigeria at large by allowing the road to divert.
It’s just shameful that citizen can’t even trust the government anymore.
Lies for the pit of hell , so far the road cross to Edo from ondo it’s not the initial road map again.
You cun dey plaster the lie with big grammar
SMH 🤦♂️
Election season that’s when you know you want to divert road, that aside it was $15B for the coastal from Lagos to calabar 10 lanes, you reduce it to 6 lanes now you’re diverting where will the balance go ???
Smh 🤦♂️
David Umahi
