Amara was such a great leader of our team not just because she cared about creating great content, but because she genuinely cared about all of the people working around her.
Having Amara as my manager for my entire SNY tenure was a privilege.
Well, I was laid off by SNY this morning along with my whole editorital team and many others. Despite it being in my nature to say exactly what I’m thinking, I wanted to take a beat to collect my thoughts.
I need to start by expressing my gratitude for the people who hired me, guided me, worked for me and worked alongside me. Brad Como took a chance on someone who had never been on television, and later when I was hired full-time to join the digital team, my new coworkers put up with my asking questions like, “Wait, what’s linear?” I got to work for a company that covers the Mets, the team my grandparents cheered for, and as a 1986 baby, it felt like fate.
Over my eight-plus years one thing remained true: the people made SNY special. The content teams were small, but cared deeply about showing up for NY sports fans and for each other. I will miss the inside jokes, the thrill of breaking news, the collaboration, and having to care about storylines like Dicky vs. Richard Lovelady.
Most of all, I’m urging you to please hire these amazingly talented people, while continuing to support those still at SNY who are doing their best. This industry is a heartbreaker, but thank you for reading, following along, and to everyone who has reached out on a very hard day.
There is no one — no one— who knows all things Mets more than Danny, and he’s also a tremendous writer.
Any outlet producing Mets content would be wise to add him.
Well, I (along with every member of our website editorial team) was part of the widespread SNY layoffs.
It’s a gut punch, but I’m thankful for the 7+ years I spent with the company. I worked with a lot of really great and really talented people, and I’m thinking of everyone there who was impacted. 🍎
At least it’ll be entertaining?
A QB change in Philadelphia: the Eagles are naming Joe Milton their starting QB and benching Tanner McKee for Sunday’s game vs. the Giants, per @mikegarafolo and me.
The NFL Twitter account also apparently doesn’t care? Cutting around what actually happened on the play is crazy nitter.cf/nfl/status/21174430197…
Odunze catches another big one. Caleb starting to cook.
Bears on the move to end the half.

I think my least favorite part of NFL twitter is people who have no idea how to break down film acting like they can break down film.
I say this as someone who knows they can’t break down film.
Well, that sequence was the Eagles season in a nutshell.
False start on 4th and 2
Illegal formation on a made 36-yard field goal
Missed 41-yard field goal
Some candy takes:
Reese’s Cups are the undisputed GOAT
Peanut M&Ms are infinitely better than the trash originals.
Milky Way is better than Snickers
Dots are unfairly hated on
Put your Kit-Kats in the freezer to improve them exponentially
Six Commanders in protection. Three-man rush. Three players blocking no one. Two Niners get to the quarterback.
