Representing the 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝗛𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗜 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗗𝗜𝗕𝗗), Shriya Trisal presented BHASHINI’s approach to language AI, including the proposed 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗶. The presentation highlighted 𝗕𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗗𝗮𝗮𝗻 for community-driven language data contribution and human validation, and 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗮 for digitising and preserving Konkani books, manuscripts, oral histories and linguistic heritage. At the inaugural session, #𝗦𝗵𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗸𝗵 brought real-time multilingual communication to the forefront, enabling 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵. At the 𝗕𝗛𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗜 𝗸𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗸, a wide range of language technologies, AI solutions and real-world use cases were showcased through live demonstrations, highlighting the potential of multilingual AI across communication, digital services and language preservation. As BHASHINI advances the development and adoption of AI-powered language technologies, linguistic accuracy and quality remain central to building reliable multilingual solutions. BHASHINI invites eligible organisations with access to qualified language experts to submit Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for empanelment as Language Service Providers. From enabling empathetic conversations between doctors and patients to recording clinical interactions and generating prescriptions, the workshop showcased how voice and language AI can support doctors, nurses, pharmacists, resident doctors and patients. Demonstrations also highlighted the potential of multilingual healthcare websites to make information more accessible in patients’ preferred languages. The engagement underscored how voice-first, multilingual AI can bridge communication gaps, support healthcare professionals and advance more accessible, inclusive and patient-centred healthcare.
