Idk i just feel like when ao3 is back up I need everybody to be heaps more graceful towards fic writers because if two weeks without their works is painful then maybe we shouldn't be discoursing weekly about how much you think they suck at writing.
The amount of devastation this brings just days after Walter Koenig passed away

My Patreon has a free tier that I crosspost my SFW content to, but anything that's NSFW HAS to be locked behind a paywall per rules. The $1 tier has cross-posted stuff from AO3, so I'll be updating those tiers more through the next few weeks.
People really will immediately comment and retweet everything about AO3 being down, but wont retweet the promo posts of the fics they love.
Guys im BEGGING you to redirect that energy to supporting the writers you claim to love.

For anyone about to bitch that ao3 might be down for a month, you better put your foot in your mouth, and support your favorite authors on other platforms they might have instead.
That anger is far better redirected.
For all those who get angry about ao3 donations every year, this is what those donations fund-- investigating and fixing the servers, and keeping them online.

let's all use this time to reflect bc the instant misery people express when they can't access fic for just 12 hours is at odds with the slew of ungrateful/judgemental posts from readers i am seeing far too frequently atm
#AO3 maintenance is in progress. We expect it to take at least 12 hours, but it may take longer. We will provide updates as necessary. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/incidents/g12j…

Not to harp on this again but “I want to critique fics” beta reader. “I just want to help people become better writers” beta reader. “I don’t want to accept bad grammar” beta reader. “If we can’t give unsolicited advice then-” hey so have you ever thought of being a beta reader?
