Week 1 writing about ways to generate money outside of Rev Share.
1. Airlines. Find an Airline with one of their hubs in your state.
Example: United Airlines has a hub in Newark NJ. If I was a NJ school I would look to partner with @united

Percentage of the company theory:
If a school gives you 10% of their NIL budget versus 2.5% what’s that mean for minutes?
Miss spoke in the video but here’s the Example. *If you get 50k of 500k budget you get 10%* versus 180k of 7 million is 2.5%.
Thank you to the Newark Rams!

I talked to over 100 young coaches this summer.
The number one question they ask, how’d you get to where you’re at now?
If I was starting out today here are 15 things I’d do.
1. Get around good players. Coach AAU, find a good prep school, train kids.

I worked over 1,000 hours as an agent in the NIL space over the last year.
Here are 5 things that nobody tells but you need to know:
1. Relationships run this business.
From coaches, players, & parents, to brands, media, & agents-EVERYONE MATTERS.

8 years I was a high school coach.
Today I coach at Hampton University in the CAA.
If you’re just starting out, here are 8 things I did that you can do too.
1. Get around good players. A lot of my foundational relationships were built during my time at St. Benedict’s.

A hill I will die on: Sometimes the opportunity is more important than the salary.
My first coaching job was $3k, the next one was $5k, and when I was 27 I worked for free like many coaches do.
You’re not late you’re right on time.

Last week I wrote a thread on sending cold emails.
Here’s the best cold email I’ve ever gotten and why.
1. He provided value.
At the time I just got promoted and needed a new code window. @Mikey15Carrillo was able to jump on zoom and show me some tips.

I’ve sent hundreds of emails as a young coach looking for advice.
At times, it’s hard to get an answer.
Here are 7 tips to help you get a response. (#5 is an example)
1. Weaponize the subject line.
-Find something that will catch their attention (Hometown, College, etc).

In 2011 Darius Theus helped lead VCU to a Final Four.
Since then he has worked his way back to Richmond for what he calls a dream job.
How’d he do it?
Pushing himself outside his comfort zone.

Appreciate Darius sitting down with me. Great episode to get a perspective from a former player.
