OSCE section 1: This 26yrs old primigravida at 36weeks GA presented to this facility. She has had multiple hospital admissions during her first trimester on account of hyperemesis gravidarum. She is bothered about what the outcome of her pregnancy would be and says……“this pregnancy is a death sentence”. Counsel this patient.

Relationship is an interesting thing.
I was going through my DM to see what message I could attend to and there was this person that sent me a picture of myself and his sister during my chamber attachment while I was in Law School. It was even a group picture of all the externs but it got my attention.
Interestingly, he had been messaging me before but I hadn't seen it. Today, I didn't just see it, he got my attention.
He has gotten monetary assistance because I was in the same law firm with his sister 10 years ago. Life is unscripted. We are probably not anywhere by mistake.

I’ve tried to avoid this topic but here’s my take.
I understand the intention behind saying pregnancy is not a death sentence, but I find that statement kind of insensitive.
Pregnancy may not be a death sentence for most women, but it can absolutely be for some.
Women actually die from pregnancy related complications…some barely survive it.
Some sustain life-altering complications.
I think we should be careful not to invalidate these experiences in an attempt to make pregnancy sound less scary.
