I get the "at least people are reading" for making people more literate but that's not the only thing you should pursue in life. Literally if you read so much it's unhealthy, you should balance out your addictive habits with other efficient activities. Like socializing

Its interesting that a lot of people combating this are saying "at least people are reading" but most fanfiction are grammatically and literarily incorrect.

Do you guys ever talk about censorship outside of a fanfic context

Like I get that there's very good fanfics out there and I read some them even. Praised them a lot. But I don't really care that it's down, some people just take this shit so seriously like their life depends on it and it's very concerning

you know you have a life when a fanfiction site being down for weeks doesn’t move you at all

AO3 IS RUN BY VOLUNTEERS they do not get paid for any of this. be kind, patient, and respectful to the volunteers who work hard to keep ao3 running, fight against censorship, and protect writers, fanfics, and people’s rights/freedom to write whatever they want, however they want

We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/

I don't think I want to give money to a site that allows fics about real children when you can use that money to somewhere else

I promise you can live without that site. It just goes to show you just read or write stuff in there everyday, when you can do something else also, now's the chance to them
