Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5: hackertube.org/ - Excellent recs without any logins (state is kept in local browser session) - Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads - Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version - HackerTube Longs ✊ A bit more on the process: I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing. Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.

I’m in this café and there’s this guy sitting next to me typing code in a light mode IDE. Typing code. Character by character. Like a sociopath.

.@rfvivas had one condition for joining AppLovin: “I have to live inside of the office.” “Think of this as like the Vietnam War. We have this goofy name called AppLovin. We have no VC funding.” “The only way that we’re going to win is we’re going to have to outhustle everybody else, which means I have to live here.” AppLovin CEO Adam Foroughi then went to IKEA and built a bunk bed for him and another employee. “I was like, ‘Home sweet home.’”

Great line from the CTO of Proton. I’m paraphrasing and stealing it : Your job is not to use agents to help you write code. Your job is to lead the agents to help them write code.

After taking more than a year off to spend with my babies and after being very deliberate and wanting to find better purpose with my work, I recently signed an offer letter that I am so excited about! Excited to share more soon.

The ultimate form of preparation is not planning for a specific scenario, but a mindset that can handle uncertainty.

We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

A peak life advice from Alex Hormozi: “No matter what your goal is, you will suffer to achieve it. So pick a goal big enough it's worth suffering for.”

Great Scott! Happy 88th 🎂 #film
Today I turn 88…I’ve seen some serious shit. The most serious of it all is love. I love my family, my friends, and my wonderful fans. The power of love remains.

I believe that 99% of success is just the ability to outlast uncertainty. The one who can tolerate the most uncertainty will eventually win.

Back in 2021 I interviewed at Vercel and I failed badly. I couldn’t implement a debounce function and was stuck for like 30 minutes. It was pretty embarrassing. 10 months later (2022) I interviewed again and got the job. Don’t give up!

A programmer and a software engineer aren’t the same. I’ve known many people who made a living writing code, but they were always a cog in a larger process they never understood. Frontier models can do that job today. 1000x better. Software engineers can write code, but they always understood code was a means to an end. Software engineering is alive and well.

Wanna heads up before a migraine? Pretty 😎
The worst part of a migraine isn't only the pain. It's everything you have to deal with while you're in it. Calling the doctor, fighting insurance, chasing a refill. @PraneetaPujari worked on Apple Watch for six years and lives with migraines herself. Now she's built UniqueHuman, an agent called Niq that reads your sleep, your wearables and the weather, and warns you before a migraine hits. When it hits anyway, Niq sends your doctor the report, finds a med your insurance actually covers, and gets it to your door. The launch film is handmade stop motion. Worth the two minutes. apps.apple.com/us/app/unique… If an agent could take one chore off your plate when you're sick, which would you hand it first?

Engineering Managers, this one's for you! 💛 That gap between Product and Engineering? It's not a talent problem. It's not a people problem. It's an understanding problem. And understanding is totally learnable. Yay! 🧵

What this means for your team: product walks into ambiguity with confidence and hands engineering prototypes instead of guesses. Your devs get partners who speak their language. Less rework, more trust, happier humans. 💛
