VIDEO | Delhi: Ebin Basil, a third-year student of law at Jamia Millia Islamia ends his indefinite hunger strike on the 18th day after their demands for the restoration of the university’s students’ union was accepted. Addressing a press conference here, he said, "Today marks the 18th day of our hunger strike, and I am calling an end to it following the official registration of the Jamia Millia Islamia Students' Union. The university administration has agreed to all the demands we put forward. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the students of Jamia who stood by us, and to our comrades and sathis who joined me in this hunger strike. A special thanks goes to our very respected Haris Beeran Sir, Rajya Sabha MP, as well as the Jamia Alumni Association and all other alumni of Jamia. I am deeply grateful to everyone across the nation and worldwide who supported our movement for the restoration of this democratic process.
