For years, @the_andrey_x has been a target of Israeli forces and settlers because of his work documenting settler pogroms and Israeli apartheid.
He has been beaten, detained, and threatened several times. Now, he’s facing what Palestinians endure daily in the West Bank. He was brutally beaten and is being denied medical care.
Many Palestinians die waiting for ambulances blocked from reaching them by Israeli forces and settlers.
This is an alarming escalation that threatens to further silence reporting on the ethnic cleansing the Israeli occupation is carrying out in the West Bank.
Andrey X and several other activists and journalists use their privilege, which allows them to enter areas that Palestinian journalists cannot, to report on Israeli atrocities against Palestinians.

Hi, I'm free.
Beat up but fine. Police stole my phone. Settlers punched me in the face several times, likely broke @AdeleShoko's wrist and gave @the_andrey_x a concussion. They threatened to shoot us with an assault rifle over and over.
Will tell the full story later, but for now, I just want to be clear about what happened. We witnessed two settlers locking a military gate in Umm al-Khair, blocking the only way to more than twenty Palestinian communities: trapping families inside, preventing students from reaching school and workers from their jobs, blocking delivery of food and access to ambulances, etc.
It's a crime that the military has this ability at all--but last night, we discovered that random settler terrorists also have the key. We confronted them and began asking questions on camera, and they nearly murdered us for it. When the police finally arrived, they arrested Andrey and me and charged us with assault.
The gate is still locked.

Settlers blocked the ambulance from evacuating him. He is now being held ALONE in the ambulance inside the settlement and is being denied transfer to a hospital.

One of the most helpful things you can do for yourself as a patient is to begin to understand the biological mechanisms underlying the dysfunctions and symptoms you are experiencing.
Remember!! Treating symptoms and treating disease are not the same thing. Taking benzos or LDN or LDA or beta-blockers can help control symptoms of MECFS for some people but they cannot correct the dysfunction that is giving rise to the symptoms. For that we need an entirely different approach.
The first step to understanding how you can begin to take a bit more control of your condition is the right information. A little bit of knowledge can go a long way once you realize what is important to understand.
Bite size visual lessons are a great way of learning the basics. One of the biggest stumbling blocks I see in how patients approach treatment protocols is that they don't have any understanding of what is needed to start to address dysfunction.
In the end this means most people waste years following protocols with little real chance of moving the needle - just controlling symptoms is NOT enough.
We are not getting enough help from the medical community. Patients need clear options but we also need to understand the theory - not everything is right for everyone and complex protocols really are going to be essential. As much as we all wish for a major bullet - it is not going to be how people recovery from these types of conditions.
I think this is a great project and one that has the potential to really help patients. Excited to see where it goes. Amazing initiative @manruipa
