The main reason why most people don't succeed at anything is because they're not prepared to be bad at something for a long time.

It’s so interesting how many people want to apocalypse larp and talk about colapse and then I try and talk about hardening sewer systems they get bored. Like buddy the apocalypse is going to be boring as shit. It’s just spending all day fixing shit that you wished never broke.

One thing I’ll hand to AI is that I’ve gotten so used to AI slop that now when I see bad art made by a human I think it is cute and endearing

So if I purchase a DVD and digitize it, that’s copyright infringement. But if an AI company buys my book and scans it to train their system, that’s perfectly fine? Once again, corporations are allowed to play by their own rules. I’m so sick of the hypocrisy.

Btw, the story I told that really opened up the eyes of Rep Boyle’s staff was not about a musician, but a friend who is a costume sketch artist. His job is to sketch costumes a client wants made based on their requests. The client then sends those sketches to a chosen costumer
Yesterday, @RecordingAcad members from across the country met w/ lawmakers to protect human creativity in the age of AI & ensure music continues to thrive. It was a pleasure to meet w/ Rep. Boyle’s staff! If you love music, add your voice: congressweb.com/GRAMMY/91/ #MusicAdvocate

when they don’t use his expertise. What really upset him, is that people were taking sketches from his portfolio, uploading them into generative AI software and having the software create new materials based on his sketch and design style. This happens in music, especially

with vocals, but this story seemed to really resonate and unlock an understanding with Boyle’s staff Generative AI doesn’t just affect music creators, but creative folks of all disciplines. We need to protect human-created work & hold accountable from it those who wrongly profit

My 7-year-old son can’t watch sports with me anymore. Not because of the games, but because of the commercials. The horror movie trailers are the worst. The terrifying imagery can send him into a spiral of anxiety that lasts well beyond the 30-second ad. These are images his young mind simply isn’t ready to process. We talk a lot about mental health in this country, especially in sports. Yet between the relentless gambling ads, alcohol promotions and genuinely disturbing horror trailers, I’ve reached a point where watching an MLB or NFL game with my kids requires me to monitor every commercial break. I love sports. I work in sports. Some of my favorite childhood memories were made watching games with my family. I want that for my sons. I wish we could exercise better judgment about what we’re putting in front of families during sporting events. Sports should bring generations together. Instead, I’m increasingly forced to treat game day like an adults-only event. Something feels very wrong about that.

The whole point of art, in fact the point of engaging with another person's thoughts in any capacity, is to expand your very limited individual perspective on the world, not to live in a tiny box perfectly catered to your adolescent personal tastes

It was at this moment I became a @JalenHurts fan forever. At 19 years old he was asked one of the most difficult questions of his career - all I could hear is “after going 11-1, how did it feel to get pulled at the second half and watch someone else steal your glory” and his answer was beautiful. Ultimate team guy. Need more people like this in the world.
Wow. Never-before-seen locker room footage of Nick Saban telling Jalen Hurts he was turning to Tua Tagovailoa in the 2017 National Championship Game. (via "Saban" on ESPN App)
