Coach Smith aka Anakin Skywalker

😪 Struggling with your block starts? This clip features Canadian sprinters Andre De Grasse and Akeem Haynes, and shows how two world-class athletes solve the start in different ways. 🔍 Taken from our course Stop Dragging Your Toes, Stu McMillan introduces two primary block-clearance “mailboxes”: ☑️ TYPE A – linear and volitional ☑️ TYPE B – torsional and reflexive Athletes sit on a continuum between these styles. Understanding where yours fall is the key to coaching effective block clearance and early acceleration. You’ll see how Akeem produces force through a more linear strategy, while Andre generates projection through torsion and elastic qualities. The implications for cueing, programming, and progression are significant. 💡 When you understand these distinctions, you stop guessing and start coaching with clarity. If you want to develop real expertise on the sprint start, Stop Dragging Your Toes gives you the full framework: how to analyse movement, how to coach technical change, where the toe-drag idea came from, and how to set athletes up for efficient block clearance and early acceleration. 🌐 loom.ly/HHNrHU8 Upgrade your starting game with a resource built from science, coaching experience, and decades of work with the world’s best sprinters.
