this is why I love working at @VanityFair yesterday, I saw half our staff clustered around our fashion correspondent's desk poring over this photo. As José puts it, "The image has several discrepancies. The style and make of the Chanel Flap bag is inconsistent with others the brand has sold, and the Valentino shoes in question appear askew in proportion; their straps have several punched holes that the authentic Valentino style does not." Not entirely sure what is the value of this. I know of several private sector initiatives that function as a registry of products; the gov is not needed here. And even if the gov desperately wanted to do this (again, why?), Digital ID for this is a big no-no. Login with GitHub would have sufficed. Privacy is something people in tech appreciate more than most. More fundamentally, instead of throwing together a superficial hub on YET ANOTHER silo-ed website, it would have been much better for the gov to provide transparency on the implementation of AI in the public sector / for the public good. For example: • UK: ai.gov.uk/ • Canada: open.canada.ca/data/en/datas… In sum, business-as-usual in Msian GovTech. Superficial + no real product thought behind it.
