Just came back from #Syria, my fourth visit since toppling Assad.
I don't have any insightful threads like the ones @Karam__Shaar, @GregoryPWaters, @HalaGorani or others do, but I can tell you:
- During my first visit (Feb 2025): overwhelming majority of ppl were hopeful and cheerful.
- This trip: ~30% of ppl support/justify anything the Transitional Gov does. Remaining majority are complaining & voicing serious concerns about where the country is heading. Main issues: Trust in gov and security apparatus, freedoms, corruption, lack of transparency, favoritism, lack of a vision or plan...etc
