Mone Chiba 🇯🇵 I had fewer competitions leading up to my Grand Prix event than usual, so I felt more anxious than usual. But I tried to focus on what I needed to do, why I was competing, and what kind of performance I wanted to deliver. I tried to stay focused on those things, so it’s really frustrating that I ended up making a mistake on my jump. In the free skate, I want to make sure I give 100% on every jump and really go all out. Since the end of last season, I’ve wanted to try a strong, cool, slightly dark short program. That’s how I came up with the idea of using James Bond music. I thought portraying the mature and sexy side of a Bond girl would help me expand my range of expression.I’m really enjoying performing this program, and I feel like I’m discovering new ways to express myself. Rinka Watanabe 🇯🇵 Today’s performance was not good. This season I changed my coach,and I was trying to do my best today. Tomorrow I want to change my mind and I want to do my best tomorrow. Last season, after the nationals,I was thinking about retire.But I'm kept thinking, my dream is going to the Olympics. So why not keep skating for another four years? Lilah Fear / Lewis Gibson 🇬🇧 Lilah: We feel surprisingly good. I thought I’d feel extremely jet-lagged, but it was just a really good opportunity to see that we could perform regardless. We feel like this was a level up from even last week, so it’s really exciting to build on that momentum and perform in such a beautiful place. It’s just better from beginning to end, with an energy like that of a concert performance. We were even more intentional this season just because we learned so much last year. There were so many highs, so many lows. And from that, we had new standards for ourselves and our growth. So we did a lot of work in the off-season dancing to prepare for all of the Latin dance styles of this program and the jazz of our free dance. We worked a lot on our skating skills, and then to be able to implement that into our program was really purposeful, and I feel like we’ve done that. It’s an incredible city. We’re happy to be here because, in Montreal, it’s getting cold. So when we checked the weather, we were like, “Yes, we can wear skirts and dresses!” And it’s always really nice to just be in such a different part of the world and to get to know different cultures and different climates. #GPFigure #FigureSkating #COC
