Claude Opus 5.5 is now the default model in Claude Code and the Claude app, including Cowork, for Pro, Max, and Team plans. I’ve been using Opus 5.5 as a daily driver and love its clear communication skills and ability to write in my style.
We’re defaulting to effort medium across products, which is comparable to Fable 5.1 on intelligence but faster. Your rate limits will go 25% further on Opus 5.5 compared to Opus 5.

In the new Projects experience, Claude coordinates all of your sessions.
I've been using it every day since it lets me operate at a higher level of abstraction. I fire off a batch of tasks and move on. Claude has context on everything I'm working on and can give me an aggregated status update whenever I ask. It also has long-lived memory that evolves as I use it.

Today, we are merging Claude Cowork and chat to simplify how you use Claude!
We are also integrating Claude Design so that you can ask Claude to make a Slide, Design, or Doc without needing to switch tabs or apps.
Many of you shared that you didn't want to choose which Claude product to use for any task. As Claude models have become more capable, we've found that Claude can handle the routing for you. Based on your prompt, Claude will decide whether to give a quick answer or do deeper agentic work, and what kind of output best fits the task.
You're in control the whole time: you can still stop, redirect, or exert finer control over Claude's effort or approach.

Fable 5.1 makes Claude Tag even more useful. Here it builds a last-minute leadership deck from a metrics spreadsheet and other data across Slack, spots a vendor report that disagrees with the numbers, and flags it before moving on.

We've been working on this with customers for a while. Mythos-class models require additional safety measures and enterprises need to meet their own privacy and compliance rules. Customers can own and control their own data and Anthropic retains none. It’s coming this fall.

Fable is careful. None of the other models are careful. GPT-5.6 Sol, Opus, Kimi, Grok. You can compare them all day long on capabilities, and it doesn't matter, because in order to use a model for real production work, it must first and foremost be careful.
That's the only dimension that matters to me. And if you're doing real production-facing customer-facing work with AI, it's the only thing that should matter to you, too. The other models will not be truly competitive at anything but proofs until they are trained to be careful.
I love using Claude Cowork to manage my calendar. Here's my prompt for it:
Manage my calendar for the week. Requirements: 1. <20 hours of meetings 2. Dedupe conflicting meetings. Look at past weeks to see what kinds of meetings I decline. Dinners don't count against the 20 hours. Build a skill that you refine. Ask me before updating invites.
