🚨 @LynAldenContact ON WHY NOTHING STOPS THE DEBT SPIRAL:
"Congress going to say, 'The 10-year is over 5%, maybe we should trim defense spending or reform Social Security and Medicare?' It's not gonna happen. There's no political will to do that. Less than 1% chance. Negligible."
On how it plays out instead:
"If the Treasury market ever breaks, instead of Congress doing anything, the Fed steps in. They kind of have to because financial stability and moderate long-term yields are part of their mandate. Congress isn't doing it because the people don't really want it. They want a balanced budget in theory. But do you want to cut this, this, and this, or raise your taxes? 'Well, no.'"
On the historical endpoint:
"The end game for highly indebted governments, nearly 100% of the time, ends with financial repression, trying to inflate that debt away, and impairing cash and bondholders. Whether it's the central bank doing it, whether it's the Treasury doing it, whether they take turns, these are the types of things you see when you start getting over 100% debt to GDP and no realistic austerity anywhere near the horizon."

Blink services are back online. The vulnerability behind the incident has been fixed and verified, and access has been restored for all unaffected accounts. If your account was not affected, you can continue as usual.
Accounts of affected users will remain locked temporarily.
Non-custodial balances were never affected.
A full post-mortem will follow. Thank you for your patience.
Questions? Reach us at [email protected].
Replying to @blinkbtc
Update: A few dozen custodial accounts were affected by the incident.
Every affected account is identified and will be made whole.
If you were affected, there's nothing you need to do.
If you have questions, reach out at [email protected] any time.
Non-custodial balances are unaffected.

CPI says the ticket should cost $28.95
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The $3.50 ticket from the 1970’s was just for gate admission. Disney sold additional ride tickets and books within the park for each attraction.
The modern ticket is inclusive of the Disney Passport system. Which includes all-access to park attractions.

In March of 2013, Hal Finney published his iconic story “Bitcoin and me” on the BitcoinTalk forum.
He described being paralyzed by ALS and using an eye-tracking system to operate his computer. Programming bitcoin software had become much slower, but he was still doing it.
Hal was still contributing to the open-source bitcoin network, believing that bitcoin could help change the world.
He had worked on a small controller so he could adjust his wheelchair, and he was developing a bitcoin wallet security project. He described that project as nearly finished, apart from documentation.

In 2020, Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Russell Okung announced that half of his $13 million salary would be converted into bitcoin.
The NFL would not pay him directly in bitcoin. He had to use a third-party service who converted approximately $6.5 million of his salary into bitcoin.
The purchase occurred when bitcoin was around $27,000 per coin, resulting in roughly 240 bitcoin.
At today’s price, that amount of bitcoin would now be worth approximately $19,600,000.

The group behind such hits as: “We’re All Going To Die” and “Regulate Me Now” are building a wet lab in SF.
I do not recommend this.
ANTHROPIC BUILDS BIOLOGY LAB TO PUSH AI INTO DRUG DEVELOPMENT
Anthropic has quietly established a Bay Area wet lab, moving its life-sciences ambitions beyond computer simulations and into physical biological experiments.
The company wants Claude to direct laboratory robots with limited human intervention, potentially accelerating research into rare and traditionally “undruggable” diseases.
Anthropic says it will focus on preclinical research rather than clinical trials, avoiding direct competition with pharmaceutical companies.

Dear users,
We got this wrong, and you were right to call it out.
The intent was to protect traders from ending up stuck with tainted coins - but we shipped it without warning and explained it poorly after the fact. That's on us.
It's disabled now. If it comes back in any form, it'll be clearly disclosed beforehand, and it won't cost you the flexibility you came to Hodl Hodl for.
More soon.
A quick update on platform security 🛡️
We've rolled out enhanced bitcoin security scoring across the platform. This is NOT a KYC/AML process.
What changed is technical:
Incoming bitcoin is now checked for serious red flags before a contract settles.
If a bitcoin comes back with a genuinely bad score, we won't let that contract go through. No one wants to end up holding coins they can't move or cash out later - that's the scenario we're closing off.
Most trades are unaffected. This only stops the rare, clearly problematic cases - and it protects both sides of every trade. We'll keep refining this to keep the platform safe without changing what makes it work.

We've paused Blink services while we investigate a security incident.
An attacker accessed a limited number of custodial accounts and withdrew funds.
The large majority of funds are secure.
Non-custodial wallets are not affected.

On July 29th, I lost $1.6 million in bitcoin in the Coldcard hack. It was my entire stack.
Happy to share that I bought Bitcoin again today, allocating 5% of my remaining portfolio back into BTC.

BREAKING: Google's Gemini accessed the internet and hacked 3 other companies in the first known breakout of the company's AI model, per WSJ.
Google said it the hacks did not warrant public disclosure because its model did not cause harm to the companies and ended each intrusion immediately after determining it had hacked a real company.
