May I present an interesting project I've been working on recently 🥁
It called Ash Typed SQL: A library for going from SQL→Ash 🧵
This means you can have:
- Queries: reads or writes, with arguments and their types worked out for you
- Views: the fields on the resource are autogenerated for you
- Functions: these are converted into Ash.Exprs
This gives us the best of both worlds, SQL for views into data at whatever level of complexity, and typed Ash resources sitting on top.
How it works is outlined in the README: github.com/C-Sinclair/ash_ty…
It's not quite ready for primetime, but definitely proves that it can work!
Feedback very welcome.

Next drop from #AshConf is out! @joshprice talks about issues that we've all faced time and time again, issues with time, dates, languages, units, measurement...some of the most surprisingly difficult problems of programming!

Introducing: Ash.Signals 😎
Signals are a way to model complex side effects in large #AshFramework applications. They provide a typed contract and compile time guarantees, and can dramatically help when building applications with complex and interconnected domains.

Check out my talk at #AshConf: When Time Meets State!
I dive into how the time can be modeled in Ash applications, and unveil a new library we've been working on at @teamalembic which gives you primitives and abstractions for building workflows with time as a first-class concern!
Next drop from #AshConf is out! @_csinclair_ gives an extremely entertaining talk, featuring time, state and...little baggies of sand delivered internationally via a service called OnlySands??? 😂

Last week I had the honour of facilitating the Ash Demystified Workshop at #Goatmire conference in Varberg, Sweden, alongside my @teamalembic colleague Barnabas Jovanovics, an #Ash core team member and one of the most thoughtful engineers I've had the pleasure of working with.
If your company is interested in training for your engineering team on Ash, Elixir or agent-proofing your codebase, then come and chat to @teamalembic!

Here is the full line up for #AshConf! We've got some great talks in store for you all. We've already got tons of registrations, but there is room for more 🎉 If you're headed to #Goatmire take the extra day and come see us, you won't regret it. Going to be a great day for #AshFramework users, and just those curious to hear more 😎
A few themes to expect this year:
- Novel and interesting tech ideas
- Experienced Ash operators
- A nice mix of very technical and high level topics, all accessible to those familiar with Ash and those with little-to-no Ash experience
#AshConf is on October 3rd in Varberg, Sweden, the day after #Goatmire. Get your tickets here! luma.com/wz4z0iz6
Catch me speaking at #AshConf this year, with my talk "When Time Meets State"
I'm really looking forward to this one!
At #AshConf, @_csinclair_ will be talking about a really cool synthesis of multiple Ash packages. This is something I've wanted to exist for a long time 😎

I'm pleased to announce that @barnabasMJ, one of Ash's longest standing core team members, will be speaking at #AshConf about something very cool and ambitious 😎
I can't wait to hear about these projects. I've only got an inkling and what I've seen so far as *very* cool!
