By 9 a.m., reports of flooded tents at Gaza City’s port, west of Deir al-Balah, in Jabalia and Beit Lahia, north of Nuseirat camp, and in Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis were coming in. This is the toll of the first heavy rain on families who have been forced to live in worn tents and makeshift shelters. From North to South, people are waking up to soaked bedding, ruined belongings, destroyed shelters, and nowhere to go. Help The Sameer Project respond. In Gaza, winter means being displaced all over again. Please donate now: chuffed.org/project/113222-t… Today on November 7, heavy rains in Gaza City completely submerged Yasser’s family tent. The mattresses they slept on were soaked. Every piece of clothing inside, including the children’s clothes, was wet. Their family had already been displaced. Now the tent they depended on for shelter is gone, too. And this is the case now for over 150,000 families. While so many of us are warm and dry, children in Gaza are watching floodwater seep into the places they’re supposed to sleep. How is it acceptable that a family can lose everything, start over in a tent, and then lose what little they have left in a single night?
