hire me to diagnose or fix your: - cars & trucks (incl heavy trucks) - motorcycles (even super old ones) - metalworking machinery i care about fixing things well, and about avoiding waste. i'll make as little waste as i can, reusing as many existing parts/materials as possible.

so if we try to get jobs for you in the @elkenmist neighborhood or in Portland around @BridgeSpacePdx what should we be looking for? We have some other friends who want to get a pop up teaching repair clinic around Portland

i have been in disorganized tool hell for 6 months now i finally did the tiniest little bit of (temp) organization of all the small stuff (screwdrivers, pliers, picks...) and ratchets + extensions + wrenches into two mostly empty toolbags and i think i'm already twice as fast

no matter how many tools i buy i always have some problem that would take 30 seconds with the right tool, but instead takes 4 hours without it

every time i'm faced with a problem i don't know how to solve, and have failed to solve multiple times, i kinda freak out even tho every time this has happened in the past i have eventually figured it out

part of why i decided to become a mechanic was to try to work with the part of the world that seems most environmentally terrible and try to approach it in a less terrible way now that i'm actually scratching the surface of it, it's even more terrible than is externally obvious

the ways i've found so far to make this a little environmentally better: - buy bulk. bulk oil, bulk grease, bulk coolant all come in reusable metal containers instead of single-use plastic ones - re-refined oil. companies like safety-kleen take old oil and make new oil out of it

but there's no getting around it, the machinery that runs the world also destroys it. we need fewer machines, we need to build less stuff, we need to use and reuse more of what we already have
