As someone who spent an embarrassing amount of time in the 1980s pretending to be Jean-Luc Picard, this one hurts. Tonight I'm thinking about Patrick Stewart, praying for Sunny and their family, and reflecting on Gene Roddenberry's hopeful vision of the future. May we make it so.
Halloween looks different for my 17-year-old than it did when he was little, but the importance of inclusion hasn't changed. Thank you to @BrookhavenTown for again supporting the #TealPumpkinProject and helping raise awareness of a simple way to make Halloween more accessible.
My son turned 17 today. As parents, we're told how quickly the years will pass. What nobody prepares you for is watching your child become someone you genuinely admire. Everything I know about a father-son relationship, I've learned from being his dad.
My son couldn't figure out how to solve a Rubik’s Cube.
So he took it apart and reassembled it solved.
That's either genius or the origin story of a supervillain.
Quick reminder that we're just 1 week away from the NY Solar + Storage Summit!
If you haven't registered yet, it's not too late. Whether you're in the industry, adjacent to it, or just passionate about NY's energy future, we'd love to have you join us.

I've known Josh Slaughter for almost 20 years. Some communities get overlooked, but Josh has spent years fighting to make sure his neighbors aren't. He understands his district, has a serious plan, and knows how to get things done. That's why I'm proud to support him.
Excited to see @GovKathyHochul sign the Students for Solar Act into law. This will help more schools go solar, reduce energy costs, and keep resources focused on students. Huge credit to @students4ca, @SenatorHarckham , and @judygriffinny for getting this across the finish line.
One day left to be an early bird.
After that, you're just a regular bird. 🐦

On 9/11/01, I found myself worrying about children I didn't even have yet.
25 years later, they're grown.
The future I was imagining that day has become the present & we're still trying to teach the next generation how to see the world clearly without losing faith in humanity.
Labor Day always reminds me that so much of what makes our lives work comes from people we'll never meet. I'm grateful today for every person whose hard work makes a difference, often without recognition, and for the countless small ways people show up for each other every day.
My youngest child started his senior year today.
His last first day of school. My last first day as a school dad.
There aren't words for how proud I am of the man he's becoming.
I love him more than he'll ever understand.
At least until the day he becomes a father himself. ❤️
Flying from Long Island to Buffalo, I was struck by how different NY looks from 30K feet. Farms, factories, communities, and energy infrastructure all part of the same system. A fitting backdrop for @NYSEIA's discussion on where distributed energy fits in NY's bigger picture.
There's something special about holding an event in the place that raised you.
Long Island is home, which made last week's @NYSEIA Summer Event especially meaningful.
Left inspired by the people building Long Island's energy future every day. ☀️⚡️
Long Island’s solar + storage community is getting together on Aug 20. I’d love to see you there. Register: nyseia.org/2026-long-island-…

NYC’s electric grid is under growing strain, and we’re not paying nearly enough attention.
Demand is rising. Our infrastructure is aging. Extreme weather is becoming more frequent.
The result: NYers are paying ever more for electricity. The risk of outages is growing. And we are far behind on the clean energy transition.
My office is issuing a call to address this, in part with a large-scale buildout of solar and battery infrastructure across the five boroughs. City-owned sites alone have an estimated 400 MW of battery-storage potential—enough to make our grid far more resilient and reduce our dependence on outside power.
Here’s what NYC must do now to build a cleaner, more affordable, and more reliable energy system. 🧵
.@NYCComptroller says city‑owned rooftops and parking lots could host far more solar + storage — lowering costs for New Yorkers. The report also backs

Grateful for everyone who came to NYC ready to dig in and move this market forward. And grateful for my @NYSEIA team. The challenges ahead are real, but this industry has never waited for perfect conditions. We’re already building what comes next.
