Just finished a “Everything LA is Doing Wrong on Housing, Explained” video that breaks down, in layman’s terms, the confusing and often disconnected factors that contribute to our housing shortage.
Part 1 vid w/ a tier list out now! (S =biggest impact)

Very hopeful for LA and our future - just dropped my ballot off watching a sunset over Stoner Park, 70 degrees on a post rain day, watching ppl skating, eating tacos, playing w/ kids- this city can be the best in the world if we keep building housing, parks, and manage it right!

A crazy story that I tell every time that I get the chance -- I stumbled into Karen Bass one time while walking my dog. She was filming a video promoting her housing policy at the construction site of an ED1 project in Sawtelle... 🧵
The rent is too damn high! That’s why I signed ED1 right when I got into office, to speed up affordable housing.
@HugoForCD13 and I have spent the last four years working tirelessly to make life more affordable for Angelenos, and every day we’re making progress.
Would be nice if we didn’t have a Mayor who repeatedly killed all attempts to address the process for disciplining LAPD officers and/or allowing an officer charged w/ serious misconduct to be fired more quickly.

Nithya's takedown of Bass over her (latest) people-mover screwup is 🔥. Just clear, blunt honesty.
It captures why I so much prefer her to Bass.
Bass sees every problem as a political one, to be ducked, deflected, haggled over in private with local power brokers.
Nithya sees them as technical ones to be understood and fixed with clear, accurate action.
I've seen this for years: when she stood by dedicated Affordable Housing project in her district after Bass abandoned it amid pressure from HOAs (even though they were approved under her own initiative!). Nithya pushed them forward, though even the developer was a political opponent of hers, because she knew LA residents needed the homes and we would never solve our housing problems without them.
We will never solve LA's broken systems unless we have leaders with understanding, vision and courage. We all deserve a city that works. I am proud to vote for one.

A new poll finds 86% of Cambridge residents ages 18–35 support recent zoning reforms allowing 4–6 story multi-family buildings on residential land citywide.
Among residents age 65+, support drops to just 38%.

it really sucks that Bass has seemingly governed more lately only due to a serious election challenge - her office has heard hundreds of restaurant operators complain about her "streamlined" 2023 al fresco ord still being too red-tapey
only now are sensible changes proposed:
NEW: Mayor Bass announces an executive directive to help restaurants by easing permitting and outdoor dining. It's Bass' 24th exec directive since taking office, 1/3 of which were issued after Nithya Raman announced her race to be mayor.

sick and tired of public sector employees and unions treating cities as some unlimited source of cash that involves no tradeoffs or externalities
every hundred million raise package is a lost opportunity to help the lives of majorities just so an in-group of workers gets theirs.
Essential reading to understand why LA is spending more yet delivering less. thelalocal.org/los-angeles-c…
incredible crosswalk news: after months of Bass ghosting People’s Vision Zero after this December meeting, Katy Yaroslavsky just passed a motion to instruct departments to formally study a DIY program.
Many other cities have done this, and can’t wait to see it here.
it is genuinely mind numbing how long it takes to go half a mile here on E Line:
just spent 5 min idling at LATCC, crawling then stopping repeatedly for another 5 min to Washington, then waited at that light 1.5 min, then crawled and stopped at 2 more lights to Pico Station!

Permitting even ultraluxury condos in LA helps unstick housing markets by giving wealthy older folks local options for downsizing
Mansion zoning forces even wealthy empty-nesters to hang onto big empty houses. Permitting condos lets them downsize w/o giving up the community
The California dream has traditionally come with a backyard. Luxury developers would like to sell you a different view.

blows my mind we never installed speed cams earlier, it’s the closest thing to a “fix everything button” we have to speeding related killings/injuries. Plus, all fine $ goes to infrastructure fixes!
anyone opposed to this at this point expressly supports excess death and mayhem:
Here is a complete list of the 25 speed cameras that went live today in L.A.

the irony of LOS ANGELES being one of the best places to be a transit nerd in the 21st century 😍🤓
This is the SECOND major transit project to break ground in Los Angeles this week.
First: the East San Fernando Valley light-rail line.
Now: the 12.4-mile Vermont Avenue BRT
• 12.4 miles of BRT
• Dedicated bus lanes
• Connections to the B, D, E and C Lines
• Trips up to 24% faster
• Upgraded service for 38,000 daily riders
@metrolosangeles hopes to finish the Vermont Corridor before the 2028 Olympics.
No American city is doing more for transit that Los Angeles

Mayor of Calabasas, while explaining why he had to approve infill apts, just claimed the reason people are leaving CA is loss of local control.
Yeah, okay. Not housing costs/lack of taxdollars being put to good use/QofL issues, but because cities can't be nimby enough 😅

When this regime falls—and it will. There need to be tribunals.
ICE run over U.S. citizen riding his bike—break his arm.
Agents handcuff him behind his back without calling paramedics.
They inflict even more injuries—send him to the hospital in serious condition.
Then agents detain another U.S. citizen—for yelling at them on the sidewalk.
Man with the broken arm's daughter says he was hit on his e-bike by an unmarked car.
He was then tased twice and pinned to the ground—currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
Multiple ICE vehicles were running through stop signs—speeding the wrong way down one-way streets.
All on a weekend afternoon with kids playing outside.
Incident occurred near the intersection of East 56th Street & Elm Avenue in Long Beach, California.
Stop ICE Net doesn't have an account on this platform—so posting first full length, English translated, and credited video here to help raise awareness.
