Mark Carney told the New York Times that with the immigration system “back under control,” the question is when to begin a “controlled increase” of the population. Let me be absolutely clear: nothing could be further from the truth. Here is the reality. Last year, our population grew by 280,810 people. And the current plan is still admitting 380,000 permanent residents annually through 2028, plus 148,000 existing temporary residents already in Canada who will become permanent residents. That’s not an immigration system under control. That’s a system that never stopped. And now, the same establishment that got us into this mess wants to keep driving us further down. Canada’s population growth rate collapsed from 2.98% in 2024 to 0.94% in 2025, a 68% drop. Over the same period, real GDP growth slowed from 2.0% to 1.7%, and the economy actually contracted at an annualized 0.6% in the fourth quarter. Our economy is now structurally dependent on endless inflows of people. When the inflow slows, GDP stalls; a Ponzi scheme that only benefits the big business lobby and the politicians they own. Canadians are left with unaffordable housing, stagnant wages, young families locked out of homeownership, and overloaded hospitals and schools; while big businesses use cheap foreign labour instead of investing in our own people and technology. The People’s Party has the only real solution: an immediate moratorium on all immigration until we cool the housing market, fix our infrastructure, and let wages rise for Canadians. We must prioritize Canadian families. A declining population is not the end of the world. Being replaced in your own country is.

Following more than a decade of Liberal government, we are now facing an economic collapse. The elites are destroying what made Canada great. Don’t take my word for it. Look at the data. The government is too big: Since 2020, government jobs have grown at more than triple the rate of private-sector jobs. We have 300,000 more bureaucrats than the OECD average, paid for by you. The bigger the government, the less freedom and money left in our pockets we have. The deficit and the debt are unsustainable: After ten consecutive years of reckless deficit spending, our national debt more than doubled to $1.26 trillion. It took 148 years to create a national debt of $635 billion, and only 10 years to double it. The annual interest payments alone will reach $55.6 billion this year. This exceeds federal health transfers to provinces. This massive deficit spending, financed by money printing, created inflation. We cannot spend our way to prosperity on borrowed money. Deficits are not an economic stimulus but rather an economic sedative. Economic growth has collapsed: From 2014 to 2024, Canada’s real GDP per capita, the best data to describe how prosperous we are as individuals, grew by a pathetic 3.2 percent in total. That ranks us third worst among 38 advanced nations. Canada dropped below the OECD average for the first time in history.  The data proves we are in a crisis. We are getting poorer while Ottawa mortgages our children’s future with huge deficit spending. The Liberals created this mess. The fake Conservatives want to please everyone by buying votes, and they are too afraid to bring the real solutions to stop this economic decline. Only the People’s Party is proposing bold reforms to bring back prosperity in Canada. We must: •Set up a Department of Government Downsizing that will systematically review all programs with the goal of abolishing all useless and inefficient ones and eliminating public-sector jobs correspondingly. •Eliminate the deficit within a year. •Cut personal income taxes, corporate taxes, and the personal capital gains tax.
