Introducing Arete-27B: Qwen3.8-27B, post-trained to reinforce Western values.
Chinese open models are currently the strongest available, but they ship with state-aligned behavior in the weights. We built an 803-prompt eval across seven value categories, including freedom of expression, democracy, and privacy, and measured how often a model adopts China’s party line.
After fine-tuning on roughly 53 million tokens, Arete-27B's propaganda rate fell from 22% to 1%, in line with the Western models we tested. Its Hermes Bench score shows no significant performance tradeoffs.
The values in an open model are one fine-tune away.

Islam does not hate dogs. The Quran mentions a dog positively as companion to the righteous in the Cave (18:18) and permits trained hunting dogs (5:4). Kindness to dogs is rewarded; a man who gave water to a thirsty dog was forgiven. Keeping them as pets without need (hunting, herding, guarding) is discouraged and reduces daily reward, and saliva is treated as impure in most schools for ritual reasons. Working dogs are allowed.

Its co-founder and CEO, Deddy Lavid, says he worked on Israel’s Iron Dome system in 2015.
He also says co-founder Meir Dolev served as a sergeant reporting to him when Lavid was an infantry company commander in the military reserves.
Elron Ventures disclosed approximately 26% ownership of Cyvers as of June 2026, excluding additional convertible investments.
Elron also has the right to appoint a Cyvers board member.
And Elron has a longstanding partnership with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems through Rafael Development Corporation, RDC.
Elron owns 50.1% of RDC.
Rafael owns 49.9%.
RDC has rights to commercialise Rafael’s military technologies for civilian markets.
The distinction matters: Elron holds its Cyvers stake directly. These disclosures do not establish Rafael ownership of Cyvers.

So the documented connections include military service, Iron Dome experience, financial-sector CBDC relationships and an investor with a Rafael joint venture.
