Open borders… until it’s your own border.
Glastonbury is built around being inclusive, welcoming everyone and having that very liberal attitude towards borders and who belongs.
But when it comes to Michael Eavis’s own land, suddenly borders matter.
There’s a ticket system.
You have to register.
You have to pay £408 for a ticket for the next festival.
And there’s a roughly 13 foot high security fence stretching nearly 8 kilometres around the site, with security, surveillance and watchtowers to keep people OUT if they don’t have a ticket.
Funny how that works.
Open borders for other people’s countries…
But a very firmly closed border around your own land.
I’m not saying Glastonbury shouldn’t have a fence. Of course it needs security. It’s a massive event with hundreds of thousands of people.
But that’s exactly the point.
Borders, controlled entry and rules exist for a reason.
And if you understand why you need them around your own land, perhaps we should stop pretending that countries are somehow different.
You can’t argue that boundaries are unnecessary while spending a fortune making sure nobody crosses yours without permission.

Migrant died today jumping onto a lorry roof
I came across this location this afternoon at a lorry depot and I stepped out of the car to see a migrant jump in the gap between cab and lorry but my phone was in my pocket and I missed it!!!
This then happened afterwards.
They are coming in via lorry’s now!
The weather won’t stop them this way so we are in trouble!!
I just hope our border security will do its job….
