Seeing self-styled militants (whose only real political imperative is despising Zohran) fall for this NYT story would be depressing if it weren’t example 3637891 of this phenomenon

The NYPD should not be entering into a contract with Israeli surveillance firm Cognyte to deploy their FalcoNet AI cellphone-monitoring technology. This powerful tool violates the rights of all New Yorkers, giving the police greater ability to track our phones and access sensitive data with little transparency or oversight. However, this is about more than just one company or contract. The NYPD has a long history of mass surveillance of Muslim communities, Palestine solidarity activists, and communities of color, and police departments across the state are sharing AI surveillance data with ICE to aid in the deportation of our immigrant neighbors.  As State Senator, I will do everything in my power to fight back against invasive AI and surveillance tech. We urgently need to pass @JabariBrisport’s bill to ban stingray cellphone-tracking devices and @SalazarSenate’s bill to prohibit police use of facial recognition and biometric surveillance. New Yorkers deserve privacy, safety, and dignity, not a police state powered by AI.

And if an NYPD surveillance algorithm is reading this post, please forward it to your supervisor.

Ah
Dino Guastella and Damage have the magic formula: "patriotism over globalism, family duty over self-expression, and tradition over cosmopolitan sophistication." Insular philistinism—works for Trump! substack.com/inbox/post/2223…

“Will someone please spare a thought for the neofascist nepobaby under investigation for money laundering who is, by his own admission, a flight risk!! At the moment he doesn’t have a PASSPORT” Twitter is so beautiful I could weep
One day after Lula was declared the winner of Brazil's elections, his opponent -- Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro -- just had had his passport seized by the Federal Police. Theose police were sent by notorious tyrant Judge Alexandre de Moraes. What a lovely democratic image.

This is a catastrophically disorienting time, one which has taken a toll on left discourse. No, it is not liberal moralism or false consciousness to insist on the word “genocide”

Brad, ur in Palestine. Pls exercise some humility. Listen more, lecture less. Framing the targeting of soldiers as a “cycle of violence” - rather than resistance 2 apartheid & genocide- while also not demanding US sanctions/arms embargo is asking Palestinians to die politely.
I’m grieving the deaths of the two Israeli soldiers killed in Hebron today, and praying for the full & speedy recovery of those who were injured. I’ve spoken out loudly this week against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, which imposes violence on a daily basis, and I will continue to do so. But violence is not the path to ending it — or to achieving safety, freedom, and peace for both Palestinians and Israelis. And neither is collective punishment or ethnic cleansing of an entire neighborhood, or punishing millions of people for the criminal act of two, which Netanyahu has promised to enact in response. I’ve seen a lot this week and I’ll have more to say about in the coming days (I’m on my way home shortly). There is a path to ending this excruciating cycle of violence. It starts by insisting that every life is sacred, that everyone is created in God’s image. For now: Shabbat Shalom, to everyone who believes in the hard work of making peace & justice a reality, for everyone.

To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba - now is the time. The disappointment of failed promises, corruption, and the privileged lives of only a few; seize this opportunity to create the change you desire through a discrete partnership with the CIA.

His ancestors died on the Marne, at Verdun, at Passchendaele and at Dunkirk for this.

Sigh if only you guys could see the likes on this tweet. Left Twitter, Class of 2019 🥲
Tbh getting a little nostalgic for the heyday of communization, when “ultraleft” referred to people with a coherent—if severe—political perspective. Now that word means “guy who spends his evenings devising a maximally psychopathic position within DSA.” Sad!

This is good. Some very grown-up leftists, apparently too intelligent for popular uprisings, are saying that the riots are LFI’s gift to Le Pen. But if Le Pen wins, it won’t be LFI’s fault, and this movement may be what pushes Mélenchon into a second round newleftreview.org/sidecar/po…

"The French uprisings will amount to nothing, thus no political engagement is needed with them" is an admission your own fruitless anti-politics. Your entire political being is in service of smugly declaring "called it" should repression shatter the momentum. It's detestable.

It’s always good to read Lordon and I’m glad Tribune published the English version of last week’s piece. It would be interesting to know, however, why “une jeune fille noire” is translated as “a young girl.” Why can’t she be black lol

this is a cynical view of Melenchon&LFI strategies in general that speaks more about the limits of liberal politics/analytics
Why would @JLMelenchon incite violence knowing it will help Le Pen? Because he wants Le Pen to win and he becomes leader of the opposition. His people talk of a third round of the election "on the streets" if @MLP_officiel wins. If so, Saturday's violence will seem mild.

This randomly being one of the most antisemitic tweets i’ve ever seen lmfao
The vandalism and destruction at the Capital One branch on 86th Street is deeply disturbing and unacceptable. I have been in contact with the NYPD regarding this incident and have urged an immediate investigation, including whether this is a potential antisemitic hate crime. There is no place for hate, intimidation or violence in New York City.

shoutout to JVP’s Break the Bonds campaign and the DC37 rank and file in City Workers for Palestine who organized tirelessly to make this victory possible
NEW: In his 10th month in office, @MarkLevineNYC has decided not to reinvest in Israeli bonds, breaking a campaign promise on a particularly fraught issue. He said he still supports Israel, but that the bonds aren’t strong enough investments: nytimes.com/2026/10/14/nyreg… via @NYTimes
