We shipped a thing for Fargate today - you can now check for clock drift information for your task. Not all customers will need this, but those who do really need it and we listen to our customers: aws.amazon.com/about-aws/wha…

heard in one of the meetings today: "by the time you get a response back from the ntp server, you're already in the past" my daily reminder that i don't understand how computers work.

is it really a real enough project if you don't have a sync meeting to sync and about the things that you need to talk about in the sync meeting?

w00t! side note: if you like Gibibytes more than Gigabytes (why won't you?), Fargate's storage unit has now switched to GiB instead of GB. So, yay for that. And by default, you get ~18MiB more storage :)

Dear god no! I hope folks are not running things like this on their machines: commandlinefu.com/commands/v… It's not secure and could potentially break your applications. This is a good read for why that's a bad idea: docker.com/blog/intro-guide-…
wanna muck around with mount namespaces in golang? protip: don't do it unless you absolutely have to. You need to care about threads and use cgo and hardcode the namespace(TIL).

If you want to test out dockerhub’s rate limiting, there’s repos for that: ratelimitalways/test:latest which always rate limits ratelimitpreview/test:latest with real rate limiting behavior

How the US treats skilled H-1B workers: 1) cannot apply for permanent status on their own; 2) cannot be unemployed for more than 60 days ever; 3) children lose status at age 21; 4) spouse/children mostly can't work; 5) can only work for H-1B employers; 6) long waits for Indians
